Not a Practical Place to live

Tanglewood seems like the perfect place to move in. It was cheaper than most in the area and it was kind of a cute apartment. But I will use living at Tanglewood as a example to learn from.
We were given one month free of rent...but we moved in on the 17th and they told us that the 17th to the 1st was our one month free.
Our first few bills were incorrect with extra fees. We were charged late fees for them losing 3 of our checks. Or we would drop off the check on the first and they would claim they didn't get it until the 6th and anything after the 5th is late. Our electric was OUTRAGEOUS. We were being charged almost $200 a month. The people above us had kids which ran everywhere and were just noisy all hours. The place across from us had about 10 people living there and they were only active from about 9 PM-5 AM. The people on the bottom level yelled at us for everything with no reason.
No one cleans up after their pets. A few have dogs and cats the run free willed. Our mailbox on multiple occasions actually fell out of the wall. You can leave MANY messages for the management office, don't expect them to answer or return calls. They don't care. The pool is nice, but life guards are too busy flirting or playing. Our 3 year olds bedroom was constantly cold in winter and hot in summer that we had to trade rooms with her and we went to see management who informed us to open the vents. We told them they were open and they said they'd come look and they never showed up. When we first moved in and did the inspection, we found a few problems. They didn't fix them, they covered them and the problems came back. (If you move in check the cabinets and drawers in the kitchen. My car was broken into and someone actually stole the hub caps off my husbands car.
Over all, we were paying a mortgage to live in a place that was unsafe and just not the place for me. They can keep my deposit. We got a notice of pay or get out...we left and broke lease because we didn't feel safe. Keep the deposit, I doubt they'd give it back anyways. Good luck!

Our electric is pretty bad as well. In our old apartment in Forest ( Virginia ), the electric was around $70 a month, $90 when it was hot/cold and the furnace was on.
In Tanglewood our apartment is around 400sq feet bigger than the one at Forest, and our electric runs at $150 a month regardless of A/C or heat use. It's completely absurd. If you check the windows in the bedrooms, they are all drafty and have never been winterized.
