I moved in here in March of 03 because I had credit problems and this was the only place that would rent to me. I have stayed here only because I couldn't afford anything else. I can now, and I am actively looking for something else.

First is the noise. The floorboards creak and I can hear every movement of my upstairs neighbors. They have been known to walk all around their bedroom (directly above mine) at 3am. I can also hear 85% of their conversations. Also, anything that goes on in the stairwell can be heard in my apartment.

Second is the plumbing. It is very old. If I am in the shower, and somebody else IN THE BUILDING flushes a toilet, there goes all my cold water and I am left pressed up against the back of the shower trying to get out of the path of the scalding water.

Third, my apartment was not renovated before I moved in, and it desperatly needed it. The appliances are old, the cabinets are falling apart, the kitchen floor is coming up. Also, the walls are painted with FLAT paint (except for the kitchen and bathrooms) which is impossible to clean.

The laundry rooms are small and the neighbors are inconsiderate. They will leave their clothes in the machines well past the time they were finished. How hard is it to bring your kitchen timer along with you to set the time as a reminder. That's what I do.

While I have not had a problem with roaches, I do get a lot of spiders. I also hate having to empty my cabinets for the exterminator avery couple of months. My table is not very big and I end up stuffing pots and pans and dishes into the dishwasher, oven and microwave just to have a place to put them.

I have never had a problem with maintenance. They have always addressed my problems promptly.

Now, for the scary part. Despite the police substation, there is, in fact, crime here. In Nov of 06 there was a murder in the townhomes behind me (I could see all the crime tape from my window) and there was also a sexual assault several months prior to that.
