Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006
When I first moved in, it seemed great. Rent was 1160 for a 1 bed with den (including water and gas! with a dishwasher AND W/D). For the location and size of the apartment it was a great deal. But in the end all you pay for is location, i.e "Mclean". First, the apartments are 40 years old and you can tell. My microwave, stove, fridge, W/D and dishwasher are all circa 1970. If you cook something in the stove preheat it for 25 degrees less, the microwave is the only one I've ever seen cook outside-in, the dishwasher doesn't clean the dishes and expect to dry your clothes 2-3 times before they are actually dry. My heat has stopped working and the AC never worked (though the maintenance men have all been by). I have had so many maintenance issues its unreal. There have been so many issues with broken pipes upstairs that unless water is actually dripping from the ceiling I don??t call anymore. They used to come once a week to ??fix?? it and another team came by to paint it, only to have the same thing reoccur a week later. Parking is horrible, for me and my guests. There are never any open spots close to the buildings because all the spots are taken up by the maintenance men who have big maintenance trucks, motorcycles, and their own cars. And forget about when it snows. IF they even plow the snow, they bury your car in it. The dumpsters are always overflowing. I have animals in my walls that you can hear when it??s quiet. My apt is infested with bugs and I'm constantly calling the office to get me an exterminator. I can hear my neighbors upstairs talking, walking, crying??everything, it's like I live with them. I only renewed my lease because of a last minute roommate problem. I will not renew my lease again, and I had I known what I know now, I would have NEVER lived here. I think if they completely renovated the entire complex and hired new property and residence managers the place would be a little better. If you want the Mclean zip code, but don??t want to have to pay a Mclean rent and don??t mind living in an old, poorly constructed, unmaintained dump, this place is for you.
