I don't know what buildings some of these people live in but some of the reviewers apparently must be quite delusional. I've rented for 2 years in a mid-rise and have had no major issues... aside from parking for guests. The one major issue I had was with a leak from the neighbor above who didn't realize their A/C overflow pan was clogged and caused slight damage.
I am aware the Gates has gone through some management changes since I've lived here but the current crew in the very nice clubhouse is truly a class act! I've reported a few issues to the office before and they were addressed in a timely manner. Although the building construction isn't the best (you can't blame the current owners or the management office for that), I remember talking to a neighbor who was an owner and they said the developers really didn't offer what they sold. Evidently the Condo Board is making improvements regularly. Still... I've truly enjoyed my stay here and will continue rent until I purchase a home.
** Just a little side note regarding the person who wrote "Is this a kennel or a condo?" review... I'm not sure if anyone else read into it but it would seem that person is rather scatter brained and has WAY too much time on their hands. If they detest the apartment so much, do like some of the others and leave. Many of us DO enjoy living at the Gates of McLean. Sheesh. **

This Pollyanna posting could be written by a realtor eager to earn another commission by selling another condo to another poor sucker at this miserable complex. He doesn't even address the issues in the "kennel or condo" posting, he just stoops to name calling since he knows the issues are obviously valid, written by someone who actually lives here.

I own a unit and lived there for 1 year before I rented it out. I loved the friendly atmosphere of the condo community. The vast majory of the pet owners are responsible owners. I am not a realtor. Any community you live in, there are always things that go wrong. The Home Owners board memebers are consciensious and you can always address issues to them.
