I have lived in the Gates of McLean for the last 6 or 7 months and have very little good to say about it. The parking issues are a true nightmare. We have only one "reserved" space for our two bedroom condo and are expected to pay upwards of $8,000 to purchase an additional space. Many times I have returned at night to find no available "unreserved" parking spaces. Until recently this was only an inconvenience as I would just park outside of the gates on Scott's Crossing. Recently however the Fairfax County police have been ticketing cars parked along Scott's Crossing. After investigation into the issue, it turns out the the management office at the Gates of McLean had been requesting the police to ticket these vehicles. Like it wasn't enough for them not to provide enough parking spaces for residents, now they request that the police issue tickets to these displaced residents.

Additionally, the gates which are designed to provide security are often not function so they are left open for long periods of time. Additionally, the quality of the construction is very poor. We had to have hundreds of dollars of electrical work done just to get the unit up to building code. Apparently much cost-cutting took place when these once dumpy appartments were changed to condos and sold off. I am often awoken at night by load neighboors either running washing machines are making loud noises.

The dumpsters where we are required to place our trash are often overflowing with garbage. To add insult to injury, the management is not easy to deal with. The manager of our building swore at us without even identifying himself. I am anxiously awaiting August when my 1 year lease is up so I can move out of this place.

The police may as well open a substation at The Gate of McLean with all the calls they have to answer here. It's ashame that there are people who vandalize the property and get away with it. They need more security, and more cameras.
