I have been living here for a year and I'm glad I've only signed a one year lease! There is NO guest parking, not enough parking for residents, noise from the highway 24/7 and the management is worthless. Oh yes, don't get me wrong, you call the management and they actually do a pretty good job appearing competent, but they refuse to take action on a number of things from maintenance to policy change. It has been reported that they have actually called the police on their own residents for parking along the street!

I left the Gates of McLean after many months of struggling with management and the owners's association. The main problem is that the owners refuse to entertain valid complaints from those who rent. After months of the same problems being reported to management, I finally was told by the HOA that they were not interested in listening to me, just the owner of the unit. The owner couldn't get anywhere with them either, nor would the management do anything for him. In other words, people pay the monthly fees, but there are doors to the buildings that are broken or can't lock because they are not hung correctly, there are people using drugs keeping others awake all night makig loud noises in the common areas in the buildings and outside, there are off leash dogs in and out of the buildings whose owners don't pick up after them, there is insufficient insulation in the buildings to provide normal levels of sound, the cheap construction of the buildings means that doors slam and shake the entire hall, there are openings in the ductwork that bring awful smells in from other areas of the building to the units, and overall the maintenance is deplorable. Until the HOA decides that the quality of life is important to all who live at The Gates of McLean, it will continue to deteriorate with absentee landlords who won't take any action other than collecting rents, and owners who only see to their own needs. It's no wonder that the Gates of McLean does not command the higher rents in the area as compared to other buildings.
