Great for me so far

I purchased my unit in June of 2007 and wanted a give my stay here some time before I posted on this site. Even before I came with my agent to see my place for the first time, I had already read all of reviews on this site. That is why I am beyond surprised by the negative reaction people have had to this community.
The only two complaints that I can agree with are the people being standoffish. People rarely say hi, but I have made a conscious effort to say hi to everyone that I see. Also, the parking really is pretty bad. Its not so bad for me, because I do not have people over all the time. But pretty much all of the "visitor" spots will be taken by around 3 or 4 in the afternoon depending on the day. I think the community should crack down on these tenants that are holding spots hostage every single day with their secondary vehicles.
I have experienced pretty much zero noise issues with the highway. I live in building 1571 which is partially facing the highway.
The complaints about the gate are pretty unfounded I think. The gates are purposely left open between certain hours in the afternoon. This is so they do not take damage from repetitively opening and closing due to rush hour and everyone coming home. This makes alot of sense, and the community is still really safe. I mean, lets be honest, this is McLean, not really a ghetto neighborhood. The gates were also left open recently due to the ice storm. I think this was also a good move. Take into account how much those gates cost to buy/run, and you want to ensure they last as long as possible.
In my 6 months here, I have never experienced "pitt bulls in the hallways", "trash in the hallways", "people smoking up", "crazy men wandering the streets at night", and or any of the other complaints. I do live on the first floor and have never used the elevator, so it may be slow, I dont know.
Also, I got FIOS installed for my internet and TV, and I love it. So that really isn't an issue. Alot of my friends from other cities in Virginia envy my for having that option.
The best part of my condo is my commute. I work in Herndon, VA near Dulles airport. Over the last two weeks, many of my coworkers have complained about how terrible their commutes have been. I have yet to experience a commute longer than 45 minutes. There are some less traveled paths especially in the afternoon rush hour that helped me avoid traffic. You can figure these out by taking a closer look at Google Maps. I think commuting on 495 would be bad, but the toll road is amazing.
Overall, my stay here has been very enjoyable.
