I've been renting a condo here for almost a year. Like any condo, much of your experience depends on who owns your unit and who your neighbors are. Here's my expericence at the GOM as a renter (not an owner).

Pro's:
*No bugs. I've never seen any in my apartment, which is nice.
*The Condo Association. I see some negative comments on here, but they've been fairly responsive the few times I've had to deal w/ them. They followed-through when I made a noise complaint about a neighbor. And we had a leak during a work day once, and they let the repairman in when I couldn't be reached.
*Great location. It's close to Tyson's, 495, the toll road, and about 2.5 miles to the metro. It seems like a safe area. It's on a dead-end street and is a gated community (even though the gates are sometimes broken).

Con's:
*Parking. If you have more than 1 car, I wouldn't recommend living here. Each apartment only has one assigned spot, and there is very little guest parking. Once that fills up, you're allowed to park in the cul-de-sac at the end of the street. BUT that fills up quickly too. Then, if you park on the street next to there, you'll get a $40 ticket from Fairfax county.
*Noise. The walls between apartments aren't terrible...you can't hear an average TV or peoples' conversations, but you can hear stereos easily. It seems like the floors are thinner. My upstairs neighbor sounds like a tap-dancing elephant. It's driving me nuts. Get a top-floor condo. Also, people like to honk at the front gate. Annoying.

Overall, this place is ok. I plan on leaving when my lease is up soon, mostly due to noise.

Having great expectations when I moved into this complex it was very disappointing to find out how bad it was to live here. My place has bugs and it seems as though they come from inside the exterior walls. The office wont' do anything about the people on the hall who wake everyone up. Other than the landscaping I can't see anything that is maintained properly, especially with the condo fees that are paid here. Forget every having company, they'll never be able to park here. Very poor planning.
