Surprised and shocked...

A friend of mine looking for an apartment recently told me about this site, so I decided to check it out just for kicks - boy, was I surprised at what I read here...

I have lived here now for nearly two years, and I really can?t relate to most of these negative comments. While the place does have some faults (like every place), it is certainly not the "dump" it has been portrayed as - quite the contrary in fact.

Yes, I can occasionally hear some noise in my apartment. This noise consists of my neighbors walking around upstairs, people using their washing machines, and running water(showers, etc.). I have never heard conversations, TV?s, music, or neighbors conducting their personal business in the bathroom or bedroom, as implied here. Since this an apartment, I really don?t find the noises that I do hear to be unusual or bothersome, especially since I have lived in newer, more expensive places where I could hear a whole lot more.

I actually think the complex is very well maintained, and I like the atmosphere. The scenary is attractive (my apartment faces the woods), and I frequently see the grounds workers out and about. I can?t beat the location either, since I can practically walk to work.

I particularly like the convenience of the underground garage (for which I am not charged extra), and the elevator (which I?ve only seen broken once - big deal). The gym is also cool - each piece of equipment has its own TV monitor, which is really nice.

The inside of my apartment is older than some of the others I have lived in, and lacks some of the bells and whistles (it would be nice to have newer appliances...), but it certainly doesn?t offend me. Everything was in pretty good shape when I moved in, and it seems to have everything that I need. I?ve only had to call maintenance out once, and they came pretty quickly - one day I think.

As for the "lame" social functions, I?ve been to a couple...No, the food is not prepared by Emeril, and the functions are not black tie, but the eats are free, the drinks are cold, and it?s a nice guesture. I think it?s really petty that someone went to the trouble to make comments about the fried chicken on this site - it was afterall, a Marid Gras party. What were you expecting' Cajun style Tofu and carrots' Give me a break...

My dealings with the office staff have been pretty limited, since I pay by direct debit (very convenient by the way), and don?t really have any other reason to go into the management office other than to occasionally pick up a package. I?ve never encountered anyone I thought was rude though - my few dealings with them have been pleasant thus far.

It is pretty pricey here, but then again, it is Tysons Corner. Keep in mind that there is a mall with a Neiman?s and a Sach?s right down the road, so this is definitely not the slums of Northern VA...Basically, you pay for location. If you work in the area, or want the convenience of being closer in, I would definitely recommend it here, but take a look and decide for yourself.
