Executive Summary: the place was cheaply built and if you value a quiet home, keep looking!

Read on...

We moved to the Lincoln because we worked in Mclean. At the time, it was significantly cheaper than the Avalon and the rooms were bigger, too.

I know the units are not brand new but I had notes on front and back of the walk-through sheet for things that were broken or missing, etc when we moved in. This took a long time for them to fix and they never did fix the pipe for the fire sprinkler the dangled down from the cathedral ceiling (bright orange pipe).

We had to fight with the manager to get the carpet replaced. The previous tennant obviously had a pet and cleaned the various spots (or tried to) and there were pinking stains all over the beige carpet. There were also white spots in the bathroom areas where they appear to have cleaned the sinks with clorox-like cleaners.

Ah, yes, it was odd that they had wall-to-wall carpet going into the bathroom area. I thought that was odd!

We could smell the neighbor below us smoke in his bathroom.

We could hear the neighbor below us walking around and closing doors. We could also hear their stereo like it was in the next room (there is NO insulation in ceilings/floors).

Our unit was on the top floor of a 4 story walk-up, it was a hike.

We had neighbors who didnt know how to close their front door gently so theyd let is slam and everthing on the common wall would shake (sometimes fall off). This neighbor would also drag his golf cart up and down the stairs banging all the way...and you could hear the metallic bang over the TV.

The windows are very cheap and dont expect them to keep out any noise. When ever a car would pull up or they were outside mowing, Id go and check to make sure the windows were closed--because the sound came through like they were open.

What I think is a huge rip-off is the condos for sale right behind the Lincoln (on Jones Branch). They used to be apartments IDENTICAL to the Lincoln (built by the same guy)! We looked at these and they wanted over $350,000 for the one that was our unit. But they didnt upgrade any insulation or HVAC and the bathrooms on the lower-cost units had the same tile as our apartments bathroom--including mildew!
