Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004
We've lived at the Lincoln for nearly a year and it's not bad. Yes, it's a little expensive ($1250 for a small one bedroom), and you can tell the building was put together cheaply. Like other reviewers, our utility bills were high (avg about $100).
But, it's very dog friendly (we have a black lab) and there's a wooded area near by to walk your pet. It's quiet. It's relatively safe (I caught a couple of people breaking into my car at a park near the apartment). Most of the other tenants are friendly. It's also a really good location if you use public transportation. The West Park Station bus stop is across the street and it's a 30 minute morning commute on the bus to downtown DC and about a 45 minute commute for me to take the metro to West Falls Church and then catch the bus from there to West Park and a two minute walk home. We had the lock to our door break one afternoon, and within 5 minutes of calling the front office, two guys were there and had it replaced in less than 10 minutes--nice work guys! A couple b*tches in the front office, but it's not enough of a problem to make it not worth living there. The pool area is nice, and it's a decent workout room.
Living in Tyson's kind of sucks--the neighborhood has no personality. The mall has some uninspiring restaurants and you can find a starbucks, but that's about it. But Vienna and Falls Church have some charm and they're just a 5-10 minute drive away.
If I weren't moving to another city in a couple months, I'd probably stay here for a while.
