Too expensive if you don't require Tyson's Corner location

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006
I've lived at Post for nearly two years. It's time to decide about renewing my lease, and I'm leaning heavily against it.
The rate increases just seem excessive even if I can afford it. They are now asking $1500 for literally the tiniest apartment on the property (600 sq ft). It seems worth exploring neighborhoods to the West.
Other experiences:
Post has never mentioned a rash of robberies and car thefts. I wish they would have warned us in some specific way as perhaps I've been a bit complacent in affluent Tyson's Corner.
I did see an enormous dead rat near the mailboxes at my building once. I'm vehemently opposed to rodents, dead or alive, near my "luxury apartment", though not especially fearful. Fortunately, they removed it by the time I had to collect mail later that day.
The appliances are ancient, but far so continue to struggle along.
I carefully prepared a list of the all the defects before move in, and dutifully turned in it. In a 20 year old apartment, you can imagine there is a lot to find if you just look. The women working the office said, "yes, that is what you are supposed to do. We'll get started on fixing these." They never tried to fix any of them. The most annoying thing is that every door in the place closes on it's own, as if the whole apartment is tilted. I guess I should complain about that again, but it seems petty when I already have to call for maintanence about monthly because things break due to age.
I can't comment on the present staff as every single person has changed since I moved in less than two years ago. As usual, they seemed eager and flexible when I moved in, and a bit arrogant and aloof at lease resigning time.
