I lived at Chickahominy for a year and did not really have too many problems. Parking is by permit only and there are a lot of visitor spaces, unless you live in the very back of the complex, which I did. My biggest complaint with parking is that if you do not work a normal 9-5 job you will be lucky to find a space even close to your building. However, the complex is pretty small so even if you have to park in the visitors lot near the mailboxes you don't have to walk more than a few buildings. The walls really are paper thin. When my neighbor across the breezeway was fighting with his girl I could hear every word and we didn't even share a wall. Other than that it was pretty quiet. There are a lot of kids in the complex and for the most part they are pretty respectful and friendly. Management is just ok. The main lady (Kathy, i think) is pretty much a jerk all the time, but she knows what she is doing. The rest of the staff rarely know whats going on with any situation, and no two girls will give you the same answer to a question. If you really want something answered or taken care of you need to ask Kathy directly. Maintenance, for me at least, was top notch. When I first moved in the hot water didn't get hot enough to take a shower. Matt came and turned up the water heater the same day. I had a pipe burst while I was gone and the same day i reported it the carpet guys were there to extract the water from the carpet and padding, and fixed everything up nicely the next day. I did not have any issues with bugs or critters at all. The bug man comes every 3 or 4 months. I did not get cheated out of any money and was never robbed. If you do everything on the move out checklist, which really is just vacuuming, and scrubbing the sinks tubs, fridge and stove/oven, you will get your entire deposit back with no problem. Unless of course you have trashed something. There is not usually trash laying around unless someone has just moved in and overflows the dumpsters with junk, and the landscaping is nice and well maintained. Not a bad experience over all.
