My husband and I moved in and signed a 13-month lease. Our time is almost up and we are so happy to be leaving.

The day we moved in to this "luxury apartment community" as the sign says, our apartment was a mess! The cabinets were filled with crumbs and old food. The counter tops had nails, debris, and dirt all over them and the refrigerator was sitting in the middle of the living room! I can't even begin describe the bathrooms and floors!

When summer came, so did the ants. It was a nightmare. I've had ants in other apartments before, but never this bad. They were even in our bed. When we told the staff and they told us that the pest control couldn't be there for several days. When that day came, he never showed up. We once waited three weeks before someone took care of the ants. They didn't go away until fall. Now they are back and i hate to think of them on my newborn baby.

During our 13 months we had four leaks. The crew never came when they said they would and when we complained about how our floors where a mess and the ceilings and drywall were damp they still required weeks to come and just look at the problem and no one has still fixed the damage from two of the leaks! Then they had the nerve to tell us that they have taken care of our problems in a timely manner the last three times we had leaks. They certainly did not.

Also, during the summer, the staff was very strict about pool passes, but some how about 10 high school kids were always there smoking and drinking while playing vulgar music loudly. I avoided the pool to avoid the negative atmosphere.

And recently the managers have decided to install water meters because they want to start charging tenants for water. When the crew was done, it seriously looked like they cut a hole in the wall with a butter knife. I work in new home construction and I would be extremely embarrassed at the quality of work that was done. The men didn't even clean up the mess they made before they left. Then the next day, the pipes they were working on busted.

Who is Havens peppertrees hiring to do this work' It's obvious they don't care about the quality of living they are giving us, just about saving money.

By the way, our dishwasher never works properly, I think it's about fifteen years old. Everything in the apartment is outdated.

We once had to call the police because two tenets from our building got into a fight right outside of our ground level bedroom window at 2am. I have a newborn baby and I was scared to death!

I could go on and on about our ??experience?? at Woodlake Village Apartments. Just because Woodlake is a great community, doesn??t mean it??s apartments are great too.

Your living experience mirrors mine. My lease is almost up as well, and I cannot wait to get out!!! The owner of this property should be ashamed of how these apartments are run. I have had three major leaks in my apartment and have lost my air for 4 days in 90 degree heat. all I get is "sorry" in reply. I wonder if the property owners know how poorly these apartments are being run? I lived in the fan for ten years and didn't have the maintenance problems I am having in these "luxury apartments".

Hi!
I can certainly appreciate your dilemmas. I too had a similar situation in a Richmond apartment complex and wasn???t satisfied until I decided to buy my own house in the area. You might want to consider buying???It is currently a BUYER???s market and it???s amazing - with the interest rates so low, your mortgage payment will probably be less than your rent. Just something to consider??? I was so burned by my apartment situation that I went out and got my real estate license???so if you need any help, I would be happy to show you some homes in some great neighborhoods. Give me a call ??? Rita 804-615-6200. I now work for Long and Foster.

I too lived at Woodlake Village not-so-luxury apartments. When we moved in we were told that the "atmosphere" in the surrounding buildings would be leaving soon after we questioned the people hanging out in cars, loud music, trash lying around etc. We were lied to. It took forever to get anything fixed. A guy in the next building used to smoke weed in the woods and we were on the 3rd floor, it would blow up in our windows so we could never keep our patio/bedroom windows open. We have two small kids and never felt safe. We moved out last summer and they "evicted" us after we moved out - so we got a court notice AFTER we left and never knew about it till we recently tried to get a mortgage and found out there was a judgment on our credit from them.
Elice Havens is married to the family that owns the property and it's her job to keep things cheap. She is a liar and a nasty woman. I would NEVER recommend this apartment complex to anyone - it's terrible.
