couldn't wait to leave Waterpointe "Luxury" aparments

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2006
my fiance, our daughter and i stayed at "waterpointe luxury apartments" for almost 2 years. the apartment was beautiful and big, we loved living on the lake (even though we paid extra per month for it, and there were never any apartments available that didnt face the water), our neighbors were nice, the maintenance lady even came and fixed a leak on christmas day...all that said, we couldnt wait to leave.
our rent when we first got there was 885. we were splitting it, so at 440 a piece, it wasnt too bad. our gas and light bills werent extreme either, and our water was free. slowly but surely it got more and more expensive to live there. we were both laid off from our jobs. nobody ever called to see what was going on with our rent, but they could sure find our number if something was wrong on our part. by the time we left, we were paying almost 1100 a month. then, we had to start paying for water. the coup de grace was this: at the end of our year lease, we got a letter stating that our lease would be up and we had three options. sign another year at a little more rent than before, sign a 6 month lease with a bit more than that, or go month to month at an EXTRA 100 a month, bringing our total to 985.00. we signed the paper for 6 months and sent it back. then we got a note after the first of the new lease saying we had shorted them 100 because we were month to month. apparently, and we never were allowed to see the paper we signed again, if we didnt go sign yet another paper it automatically went to month to month. we were stuck at 985 for 3 months until a nicer manager let us resign a 6 month lease (thank you heather!)
As if that werent enough, the entrance to the apartments is about 5 miles from 288. very convenient...if it didnt take 20 to 30 minutes to get there. they are about to build a walmart SMACK in front of it...try getting to work on time then. and parking' get real. between several people who had motorcycles and trailers and parked them for the entire winter in good parking spaces and the trash can that always smelled like something died, the parking lot was not accomodating. at all. i usually had to park 2 buildings away if i got home after 6pm. oh, and one more thing...watch for the dog poo. our neighbors used to let their dog go in the hallway outside our door (this was during the summer, mind you.) imagine what it was like to invite people over and the first thing they experience is that smell. they eventually moved, but the complex just isnt hard at all on reminding people to clean up behind pets. despite numerous complaints, people still let their pets have their way in the only grassy area in front of the apartments.
if you want a really nice apartment in the same general area and price, there are 2 or 3 other complexes between the walmart on hull street and a little past 288. do your research!
