I read the first two reviews and I really have too agree with the first with the exception of calling the staff garbage, that's just a flat out lie.

There is a big visitor parking issue. The second review says there is more than ample parking in a lot across from the complex; however that is reserved for a nursing home and IS NOT for the use of the residents of Arboretum Place.

For THOSE of us that do live on the first or the second floor we do hear every move of those living above us. I am sincerely happy the author of the second review lives on the third floor. Good for them. It does not mean there is not a problem.

As for the railroad and airport. I'll be honest I've never been awoken by either. However I can see how they would be a burden too perhaps a light sleeper.

Last but not least the second reviews comment about cars and their loud music at 3 a.m., I'm not saying I condone it but look around you Newport News is a ghetto, and thats not my opinion its a fact. If you don't like THOSE types of people perhaps you would be happier in a place where THOSE people do not live.

Too sum it all up Arboretum Place is not the best but it is definately not the worst place in Newport News to live. It is in a great location at the heart of the city. Simply put the first review makes it sound like a dump and the second makes it sound like heaven. Neither is true. Arboretum Place is just your average place to live.

your review was no help at all. next time please focus more on your own review and not so much on the other reviews.

I beg to differ. I am not the original author, and I am not bashing the staff. But I am on the 3rd floor, and this apartment complex keeps the water heaters above me. I was only there for a year, but on 7 different occassions, water came pouring down into my apartment. The last and final straw was when I was gone for a month, when i returned, not only did a gusher of water destroyed some furniture and countless comics, but there was not even a "We apologize..." letter from the staff. The only thing they did, was throw a portable heater in my apartment (which also contributed to a higher energy bill for me). My apartment was moldy and damp and miserable after that. And do you know what was the best part? They told me the rate on my apartment was going up! I understand the housing issue, and the little blurb on our contracts that says the apartmetn complex is not liable for any plumbing damage, I'm not an idiot and I do read. So I do not fault them for that. But I did not even recieve one single apology for all that. Hell, a $25.00 coupon of next month's rent would have been something. If anyone is military on Ft. Eustis, find some other place. Although they mention it is close to post, the stop and go traffic on Warwick Blvd negates any savings on gas with this complex's proximity to post. If I had to rate this apartment complex, it would be a 4 out of 10.
