We ended up living there for 2 years and they were the worst two years of my life.

Lets talk about the Office Management. What a joke. Lisa, the manager, doesn't know her head from her ass. She doesn't care about any of the tenants, their well-being or anything. Her response, after I expressed my fear about not only my safety, but that of my 3 MONTH OLD SON, was, "Well, there's nothing I can do about that."

The place is crawling with drug-dealers, mainly in the back apartments, the ones by the pool. Two nights before we were finished moving out a drug deal went bad across the parking lot from our apartment, there was a lot of gunfire and I know for sure one person was rushed to the hospital because of gunshot related injuries. Now lets rewind to about April of 2004 when a neighbor of mine killed his girlfriend and then himself.

In May 2004, my husband was mugged outside our apartment. We had just gotten home from the movies. I walked up to our apartment and he stayed outside to do something with the car. Next thing he knows he's got a gun in his face and being told to give the guy any cash in his wallet.

Our A/C stopped working sometime in June and it never got fixed. The Fridge stopped working and it took them more than a month to fix that. Actually unless you threaten them with some type of legal action, they won't do anything.

One of our neighbors place was broken into and they took everything. No action what so ever taken by management, not even any type of letter put out to let people know what had happened.

I could go on and on about how bad this place is, but its not even worth it.

It's obvious that the good reviews on here are from the office staff. Because there is not one nice thing about that place. Stay far away from it.

My name is Lisa & I am the previous manager, but I was transferred from Auburn, early 2005. So in this June 2005 review, I was not the manager @ that point. But if the comment was still intended for me, I suggest any person who rates a complex, base it only on the business aspect & not make it personal with the management staff. They only "manage" the apartment complex for a coporation, they did not build them & they surely do not own them. Management staff has rules & guidelines to follow as with any job. I hope in the future this person would be intelligent enough to realize that. As for me not knowing my head from my ass, I will remain the mature, classy woman that I am & keep my comments to myself. For anyone who is a realist, take the other reviewer's advice, "It's not a bad place to live"!

Lisa was a good manager doing her job, it was the few bad residents who ruined it for the rest. It has changed alot, so give it another chance, we are trying to make it better, but it takes 1 day at a time. Please be patient and instead of putting Auburn Chase down pray for them. And the staff does care... but there is only so much we can do, and as for the drug activity, Newport News police and our officer on site have joined forces... patrolling the area day and night on foot, bike and car. So give us a second chance to make living here back to how it use to be. Judge for yourself... it is and has been changing. YOU WILL BE IMPRESSED!!!! GOD BLESS
