rip-off

We rented a townhome here for a year, great neighbours on one side and horrible neighbours that always fought on the other - and we could hear every word they said and it wasn't pleasant. We had hardwood floors that were rotting due to water damage by the back door and there were gaps between the front and back door through which you could see the outdoors. The back door frame was also rotted and falling away. In addition, there was a gap between the bottom of the baseboard and the floor across the entire back wall. Over the course of a year, we had a problem with worms coming in our backdoor everytime it rained, slugs and then cockroaches - all entering our house through the gaps in our back door or through the baseboard. When we would put in maintenance requests, the maintenance guys only essentially treated the "symptoms" and not the problems and ignored the places that we explained were the locations where the pests were entering the apartment. Also, we had horrible problems with water pressure the entire year - you couldn't turn on two faucets at one without compromising your water pressure and sometimes you couldn't get good water pressure anyways, seemingly if the neighbours were using it. We were basically told early on that we were making it up, there was no problem.

Now that we've left we've just been informed that we owe them a considerable sum of money for "damages" - yet funnily enough, the original move-in form that I filled out upon arrival, that supposedly they then used for the move-out is not in my hand-writing. Go figure. I also had a friend move out earlier that had Weinstein try to claim she owed her money for extra rent because Weinstein hadn't actually opened her intent-to-vacate notice for several days after they received it. They admitted that they'd received it in plenty of time but hadn't actually opened it until after the date that it needed to have been submitted by and they expected my friend to be accountable for that.

For the price, there's better places to live in Hampton. There's a reason they have so many vacancies.
