I lived here for 5 years and watched it decline further and further as time went on. There are roaches, plumbing problems in which water comes up through the floor and floods the carpets, appliance issues and crime. Maintenance cannot/will not fix issues with the apartments; in my last month at Candlewood my AC was out for a month and was finally fixed about 5 days before I moved out. I had to sleep with a fan.

My apartment was also broken into twice in my last year. The new resident manager seems to be trying to turn things around but frankly it is too little too late and she does not seem to have the support of the corporate office. Great Atlantic will also try to take advantage of the tenants by doing things like raising rent and not giving residents adequate notice of rent changes, and if you try to contact anyone at their office about it they will not return your phone calls. Basically they want you to abide by the rental agreement and any rules they come up with but will violate the rental agreement themselves when they think its convenient.

I won't live in another apartment complex managed by Great Atlantic. They exist simply to get as much money from residents as possible while not spending money on upkeep. And if you live with roaches, water coming up through the floor and crime, that is fine by them.
