Chesapeake Bay Apartments
AVERAGE RATING

My husband and I have lived in Chesapeake Bay for over 3 years and for the most part it's a nice place to live on the other hand, the rental office staff or just the property manager is a dim whit. We have had several problems with them. There are so many regulations and rules it's ridiculous!! For instance-you pretty much can't have anything on your balcony-just furniture and what they call "seasonal" flowers. We have had the same furiture and plants on our deck since we've lived here and they're just now telling us after the fact. So, now we have two bikes and a fake tree that have no place to go. They care more about appearance than the contentment of the community.
Yes, the property is beautiful, but it comes with a price. Be prepared to be woken (it you're not a morning person) at hours like 7:30 am with weed whackers, leaf blowers, lawn mowers etc. daily!!
The staff are always entering the apartments (every other month or so) for inspection and every two to three months for pesticide spraying which is a pain in the ass if you have pets because they need to be removed from the apartment as well as you. You just don't ever seem to be left alone.
Chesapeake Bay is an ok place to live if you don't mind being bothered with people in and out of your apartment all the time and don't want to decorate your balcony the way you want. The maintenance staff are very nice and helpful, the pool is one of the best features of this place as well as the grounds. It's safe to walk at night and for the most part quiet at night unless someone is having a party on their balcony-the noise reverberates and the walls and floors are kind of thin so you can definately hear bass.
If we didn't have to deal with the rental office it would be a hell of a place to live, but they pretty much tell you how you're going to live. Oh, and it gets quite expensive to live here after a couple years. The rent goes up $50.00 every year.

Okay, I'm a bit confused. You say the grounds are one of the best features of the community, yet, you don't like the sound of the blowers, etc. ??!!?? Sorry, you can't have it both ways..Do you want the noise or the beauty? Also: Would you rather live in one of those apartments where bugs pretty much own the place or where the company care enough to spray on a regular basis? As for the patio: I've lived at Chesapeake Bay for close to two years. I read my lease as well as the handbook they gave us to know the rules. Yeah, we do get notices, but if we've done something wrong---we fix the problem. We don't use the excuse that "we've done it for so long and gotten away with it". What does that say about you that you know the rules yet refuse to follow then because you don't agree with them? My patio is beautifully decorated with items that are permissable. Put your bike and fake tree in your storage room and get over it. " No place to go?" -- It's not like they're people, just put them away and break out your "patio furniture and seasonal flowers" like I do. You make the rest of us look bad.
