roach looking "water" bugs come in no matter how you live because you can't control how your neighbors do. they hire a company to come in a spray some organic crap that doesn't work. the maintenance guy seems lazy. they slam the doors in the complex an it shakes the whole building. when someone moves out they spend days in there cleaning and whatnot... mostly laughing and playing loud music... worse than some of the neighbors. reported rotting ceilings last for weeks... until someone looks at them and does nothing. the laundry facilities are a no-go at night. prices jumped and there was no upgrades to the laundry facility. new pavement! new spray painted parking lines! there was a guy living across the parking lot that had a trailer for his truck... another wasted spot... my wife and i could barely park near OUR home. neighbors are not people you would ask for a cup of sugar. cops are always in the area. kids running around in little gangs causing trouble for tenants. pool always closed or filled with people who invited their families from wherever. people's dogs crapping in the yards and if you have a dog who you take care of... you're suspect. the staff eye-balls you the whole time you're walking little fido. mail boxes are easy to break into. windows on the outside are caked with dust and spider webs... and you can't get to them from the inside! old wiring is still tacked to the wall even though its cut on both ends... they paint over everything. doors don't latch or stick closed. garbage disposals are chipped at from people probably dropping in silverware and still turning it on... so it doesn't work well. dishwashers clogged or loud or vibrating like crazy cause it's held in the counter with ONE SCREW! floors creek. hard wood floors sound nice... but they're chipped, scuffed, cracked and not well kept. they charge you for them painting when you leave... even if the walls are white. and they still say you can't paint... they have to paint anyway but they won't let you make your home a little cozier. air ducts are dirty and have dust bunnies. no mail drop off point anywhere near the complex. the "lake" is a disaster, its an eyesore. so much garbage in it. the septic system floods the yard if there's a tree near your apartment growing into it. i swear at one point someone hacked into my cable and was stealing... cable guys have an office next door... they still take forever. water faucets sometime make really loud noises that you will think everyone in the apartment BUILDING can hear... so embarrassing. water payments seem to be split evenly according to how many bedrooms your have... but you'll end up paying more if someone else uses more. the traffic light at J. Clyde and Louise Dr takes forever... its green for like 10 seconds while its red for like 10 minutes! Jehovah's witnesses and many other door to door people come around frequently. you're right outside the limits of where some food places deliver... you have to always call another one of their restaurants to see if they even know where you are. spilled a cup of water once, cleaned it up immediately... downstairs neighbor came up and asked if we were experiencing flooding or leaking... that easy for water damage!'!'!' garbage dumpsters always full daily and lots of trash around it that the maintenance guy eventually picks up... not just stuff that didnt make it in the dumpster, trash that people LEFT by the bin!! cigarette butts on the side walks. you can hear your neighbors through the walls... god forbid if they get intimate, you'll hear that clearly. sidewalks flood when it rains... really bad flooding. desk personnel will take your packages if you are not home... that nice of them... but they have such terrible hours or don't adhere to them, that you have to wait ANOTHER day to retrieve your parcel. you're not allowed to do an oil change in the parking lot, but i've seen tenants doing there personal construction, cutting lumber in as many as 3 parking spaces. if you have a neighbor who owns a boat... thank him for not being able to park near your home. also, on the weekends, seems like everyone has a party or at least visitors... limited to NO PARKING. i couldn't even parking in the nearby lot, had to park on the street, one time ACROSS the street! when they paved and painted the lot, they made handicapped spots... of which there weren't many handicapped people living there at the time... spots unavailable to YOU! even when parking is packed! i was never bothered by the noise of the freeway. thats a plus! but the doors are heavy enough to slam if you're careless, and again the WHOLE quad shakes. looking for an apartment with a lake view' forget this lake, its ugly. stoves need replacing. if your neighbors smoke... you'll smell it in YOUR home as well as the hallway/stairwell. stairwell lights were constantly out in our area, work order after work order... they still were off and on. no power outlets in main bathroom. when they're aggravated with something one tenant did, they leave nasty unprofessional printouts on everyones door. if you work to resolve an issue with a staff member, you' better stay on that ONE person because they don't share the case information with the others. so when you call again, no one knows what's going on... you're telling them your problems all over again. lots of military living in the area, not a bad thing. Navy, Air Force and Army uniforms everywhere... great if you're patriotic. but lots of thugs too. if your neighbors don't have furniture or carpet to soak up the echos, you hear them through their door AND yours as if they're in your living room. --if there's something that i didn't touch on as a negative... it was a positive... hopefully i covered everything... as it was... negative

you sound like you must work for the complex. this isn't about your pride. it's about the people researching this complex (in which you're probably the only one happy in it) i was merely stating EVERYTHING that would annoy a future tenant as I stayed at Concord for over a year. Not evicted... DEPLOYED (on my second tour to Iraq) so that answers your statement concerning me being patriotic. parking is horrid because it's not assigned. the reason i mentioned the handicapped spots is because there were NO handicapped people parking in them and they were the only spots open when each tenant simultaneously throws a block party with guests from all over the country. as for my big butt, i weigh 175 and in great physical shape as I am active duty army. i don't know why you would even mention that as it has nothing to do with providing an accurate outline of details for future tenants. the traffic light? yeah, something that could cause someone to be late for anything. something i warned all my guests about. overall, i think i fairly described the complex. i WOULDN'T disregard ANYthing i say. if negating the things i say is an attempt to get people to move in... despite the reviews all over the net that are negative... you've a lot of work cut out for you to make this place seem worthy to anyone who does not claim a welfare check. i'd say the only reason that military live there is because the rent is, i'm sure not for long as it still probably going up, lower than the Basic Housing Allowance for even the lower enlisted personnel. alos it's 20 minutes from Eustis and even closer to Langley. it can take anywhere from 3-15 minutes to get on I-64. I'm also fairly positive that the people who move in either 1) don't have computers and/or just don't search through the reviews (i never checked the reviews, as coming home from a deployment... you just need a place to call home ASAP) or 2) can't or refuse to afford something better. by the way, the roof is flat... not angled... so the rain just SITS there and makes the leaking even more possible. grass gets cut regularly, too bad a lot of it in front of the buildings is dying or just dead. behind the complex, it's greener. the bushes need to be cut down. poison oak everywhere for your kids to get into. as far as the 'poo' goes, i said... "a dog that you take care of" meaning clean up after. they stare at you if you have a pet PERIOD. that's just profiling... and that's harassment.
-----------------------------either you are a liar about being happyinyourapts or you're an employee who works there. probably the old maintenance guy who rides the golf cart around the complex. not a guy i would want in my apartment alone. that would explain why someone who is living in the apartment (or at least had a good experience in it), not researching or providing feedback for their past experience, would be reviewing reviews about this terrible complex if they're happy. this website asks for an honest review. i gave it. who are you to deny the public the truth about this place? the manager? i'm pretty sure the site calls for you to identify yourself as so. they ask if you recommend this place, that's an absolute 'NO'. and the rating scheme? the 1's and 2's correctly described it for me. but i figured who would pay attention to a rating without the review. the object of this site is not to argue about the ratings and reviews. write your own review, and not in response to other's. by itself. take note that i didn't mention anyone else review in the first part. it's because i'm not going off of what other people say. this is my experience. this is my right.

here's a plus. if you're stationed in iraq or afghanistan and you're thinking about moving here. it's better than any POD you dwelled in over the past 6 months to a year (or 15 months). four walls a roof and a ceiling. and you don't have to worry about mortars or small arms fire (if you live near the wire like i do). there's taco bell, kfc, grandstands (good food!), food lion. ALL NEARBY. no walking to the DFac anymore. although i would keep your weapon on your back still. there's another complex if you go east on louise drive and go left, it's on the left... if you do PT, do it there. it's safe and it has nice scenery. i don't know anything about the homes though. there;s church behind concord lake apts too, i don't know anything about except some of my battle buddies go there from WAY out of their way.
-----------------------------
on a side note, thank a soldier, airman, marine or seaman that you have the right to say what you want here... or anywhere...
if you spit in my face, just know i fight for you to have the right to voice your opinions

sounds to me like maybe you didnt follow the rules, like the staff "eyeballing you while you walked fido" to make you pick up the poo you mean, right, and how awful of them to provide parking for the handicapped at the expense of you walking you (big?) butt to you home. everything you complained about seems like you are bitter as if maybe you were evicted hmmmm? come on now you even b------about the traffic light for petes sake!!! yeah i would disregard everything you say, and i see you arent patriotic either, that point was taken. glad i dont know you, i couldnt stand it.

My husband is Active Duty military and your right we moved here because it was on the cheaper side.....We've been here a little over a year and encountered problems but honestly Im gonna miss this place when we move...I guess maybe some of the courts have problems with parking, but we've never experienced it. The apartments are HUGE and I love having the church and school right here! My husband plays basketball and we go to the school and play with the kids. Its nice and quiet over here on my side. My neighbors are very wonderful...So i guess it just depends where you get placed...Maybe? As far as hearing your neighbors yes I hear the ones upstairs and the stomp so hard sometimes it wakes my kids up! But, remember we are in APTS! not our own HOUSE! As far as staff never had a problem with them...but your right they don't seem to pass along information. And as far as maintenance goes I LOVE THE MAINTENANCE they are very nice!!!! My only complaint about this place would be the pool and last summer it was HARDLY ever open....and these rennovations are taking FOREVER!!! Im very much looking forward to the new kitchens and bath =( Other than that I think these apts are nice and cozy =)

Well here are my thoughts on the subject. First off we moved here in August of 2006, and for the most part we are happy with the apartment that we have. Now don't get me wrong there are issues, but as with every apartment you are going to have probably some of if not all of the issues. Some of the issues that we have encountered since moving here in 2006 are as follows: A/C unit has malfuntioned twice resulting in living room area being flooded both times. Both times the A/C was fixed and after the second time we have not had the issue again, basically since they figured out the reason for the flooding was due to the drain line being clogged, which they unclogged. The usual minor repair of items (ie: towel holder in bathroom, wall cracked etc.) get fix in somewhat of a timely manner. Sometimes you have to keep on top of the work orders and bug the office people to get the maintenance crew on top of it. But considering the age of these apartments, I'm sure the maintenance crew is somewhat behind the eight ball trying to keep up with everything. Speaking of work orders, I do suggest that you submit the work orders in writting and keep a copy for yourself to keep with your lease so that when you do move out and they try blaming you for something you have proof that a work order was submitted to fix the item or items. Every time I have them put in a work order, I make sure the office copy that I provide them gets put into my file. Just like the saying goes "CYA". There are times that bugs may become an issue and I agree with what one person said that you can keep a clean apartment but you can't control your neighbor. Our neighbor moved out about a month ago and while maintenance was cleaning it out, I looked inside (since the door was open) and the place was a filthy mess. The oven was near the door, (since I guess they had to dispose of it), and the oven was just nasty and caked with crap. Come on people!!!! Even though it's only an apartment, you should show some pride and take care of things. As for thugs in the area. I sure can't complain about that since I live in one of the front units near the office and I have a neighgor who keeps his Newport News police car parked right out front and it appears that all the thugs are in the back units. As for the renovations, well that's another story. I do appreciate it and the kitchen looks 1000 times better, but they need to come back around and finish the work. They put new closet doors in, but when they took out the old doors they removed the tracking on the floor so now you have this ugly sight between the carpet and closet floor. When they removed the old kitchen cabinets to install the new ones, it appeared that when they installed the old cabinets they left a huge whole in the wall to install a light below the cabinets. So when they installed the new ones, this hole was discovered, but all they did to fix the hole was put duct tape over the hole and painted the tape white to match the walls. Well I was told by the contractors doing this work back in September that a crew was coming back around to fix those types of issues. Well it's now January and no crew has come to fix the problem. So now I have this hole approx. 6 inches wide buy 8 inches long covered up by duct tape that was painted white. I do agree about the hallway lights not working all the time. Well you can correct me if I am wrong, but I do believe that violates fire codes for not having a functioning light in an egress interior hallway. As for the grass in the area, all I have to say is that the grounds crew they had in 06 and 07 was great compared to the crew they hired for 2008. The pool, well what a freaking joke that was this year. I'm sure our share of the rent goes to pay for the upkeep etc of the pool, but how about having it open for more than a handful of days for 2009. And I do agree about some of the people who use the pool. I don't mind visitors of people who live here using the pool, but when a whole herd of family members come to use the pool and then act like they own it, well that is not right. Also, the office issued a list of rules to every tenant about the use of the pool prior to it opening in 08, but the office failed to enforce about half of the rules. My daughter loves the pool, but at times is afraid to go to the pool cause of the behavior of some of the animals who use it. She will take pool toys to use, and then the kids there think they have a right to just come and take the toys for their own use without first asking. And then the launguage some of these kids use. I've never heard so many 10,11, 12, 13 year olds use such fowl language. But then again, what do you expect when their parents use the pool and the life guard as a babysitter for them. Again, another rule the office failed to enforce. Well it seems like I had a lot of negativity towards this apartment complex, but all in all, it's really not a bad place to live if the office people will enforce the rules they establish and maintenance was a little more prompt on getting some things fixed. As for my nieghbors, I sure can't complain, I have a Newport News cop and a firefighter near me to help me if I ever need anything.
