Seriously reconsider moving here.

Where to start'

* Most of the people that live here are downright inconsiderate and intolerable. You will hear loud rap music at all hours of the night, coming from cars and neighboring apartments. People party on their porches all night, it is like there is a competition on who can be more obnoxious, drunk, and noisy. The walls are very thin, so I hope you like hearing screaming babies, barking dogs, and couples in their bedroom. I had to move my son to the master bedroom because the couple next door is very audible at night. We do not live in a downstairs apartment, and after a conversation with one of our neighbors who suffer on the bottom level, we are thankful for that. Watch out for the known drug dealer that is always walking around the complex, you can't miss him.

* The gate is a joke without a punchline. If it happens to be in tact and working when you come here, don't be fooled. It's a flimsy wooden gate that someone rams through every time it is fixed. Instead of being smart about the situation, management will replace the wooden gate instead of using something more effective (steel' maybe put up a camera to catch the people and charge them') to deter people from breaking them. This has happened over and over and over again, it's just ridiculous, and so sad that it's funny.

* They recently changed the water billing method. They don't feel like paying to replace the meters, so you are going to have to split the water usage with everyone in your building. My water bill increased by $15. You will also have to pay a $10 trash fee that they just increased as well. There are many apartments who have more than one dumpster and do not charge for you to use it, from this alone Forest Lake is a joke.

* They also recently notified us that they will be switching cable companies. You will no longer be able to use Cox Cable and have to cancel your account sometime in November. You will have to switch to some no-name company called Mosaic Broadband (which has no information listed on their website or anywhere online). They gave no reason. It's very shady, Mosaic must have offered them some money to force the renters to use them. Either way, I am glad I am leaving, I love my DVR too much.

* The overall condition of the apartment is poor. Everything is falling apart, the bathroom fixtures look like they were glue gunned to the walls. The paint is peeling, and I can't get rid of the bathtub mold. The water pressure in the shower is nonexistent. My A/C broke twice. The windows and doors need to be replaced, prepare to spend a fortune on heating and cooling.

* They really screw you over on the fees and charges. I move out next month and while very happy to leave this place, I am dreading all the charges they are going to tack on, I have heard some serious horror stories. No matter how clean you kept your apt, you are going to have to pay outrageous charges for whatever they want to replace.

* They won't let you use a grill on your porch or hang your towel over the railing to dry, but take note of the 1986 K-Mart patio furniture set on the left side as you enter the complex. One of the tenants has a porch swing and other nasty, tacky looking trailerpark furniture outside of their apartment. Why are they allowed to have this' It looks disgusting and really brings the aesthetic value of the complex down. What an embarrassment!

* The grounds are maintained nicely, but the landscapers will never fail to blow debris all over your car. My car is brand new so you can imagine I am not happy with this. I have to give the grounds a bad rating though, because of that trailerpark patio set.

* I asked my son if there was anything else I should add, he said I forgot the "yucky bugs everywhere." It's true, there is a serious bug problem. Crickets, (large!) spiders, waterbugs, roaches, and beetles.

I hope my experience can be used to help others make a better decision about living here. I sincerely wish someone had written a review like this before I moved here. I have been very fair, and can't think of much good to say about this place. I like the location, my son likes the pool, and that's about it!

Well, I hope you are happier now that you are gone. If you are not in your own home I'm sure you are not happy yet. Everything you stated is apartment living baby!! As far as the bugs go, that's just nature, surely you don't blame the staff for bug issues, my God, they must be God I want to meet these people. Sounds like you are not as clean as you think, who puts towels on their railing, sounds very trailer trash to me. Hope you have a life now dumb ass.

I live in Woodscape (also owned by UDR which owns Forest Lake as welll) and it's the same story. The property managers change like the weather and the place is OLD and they charge way to much money for what you get. The Mosaic Broadband thing has most tenants PISSED! I love Cox and had no issues with them but now (with these Mosiac people) I only get a handful of the channels I use to (for the same amount of money) my internet is much slower and customer service is a joke. Don't walk away from UDR properties, RUN!! They care nothing about their tenants. I move in May and I can't wait!

I totally and completely agree with this review. My floor was uneven, (there was an extremely noticeable hill in the hallway!) the windows and doors are pathetic, my air conditioning broke as well, and my downstairs neighbors would leave their trash underneath our steps for weeks at a time; and yes, it often contained rotten meat and animals frequently picked through it! The goings on there are also very sketchy. My husband and I had quite a few intensely unpleasant encounters with staff not only through the whole moving out process, but through the entire time we lived there. We also had a problem with bogus charges and an extremely OUTRAGEOUS and questionable final water bill (in the midst of switching the billing,) in which after calling the company itself that billed us, they had no record of our account, or Forest Lake! I would NEVER recommend this apartment complex to anyone.

EVERYTHING WRITTEN, IS VERY TRUE, except all the bugs you've mentioned..I've heard all different kinds of loud music, which could be an issue anywhere you live, but rap music could have been excluded from your comment, to just "loud music"...But in all, everything you've mentioned is very true!
