Our ceiling was leaking and all they did was push pin a tarp to the ceiling. Our ceiling finally collapsed on Thanksgiving night while we were gone and ruined MANY things. It took them over a day to bother cleaning it up. They then patched it up cheaply, didn't bother to paint it, and let it happen YET AGAIN. They finally got smart and fixed the roof.
We had to park on the street all the time and carry groceries. There were major problems with illegal -------- (but what low rent place around here doesn't have that issue') My panties were stolen constantly from the dryer. There was a shooting where a guy was shot twelve times. We watched a guy break down a door (an adult) to assault a teenager (called the cops). Our neighbors downstairs were always smoking pot and the doorway reeked. A homeless crackhead was sleeping in the stairwell one winter and was not only using our door as a pillow but also was half naked (sweats were down). They refused to bother replacing my window or the trim around it (it was rotten from leaks and the wood was on the floor. I could see through a hole) until a year later.
People never clean up in the laundromat.
If you're a woman, be prepared to be harassed every three steps by one guy or another.
Neighbors are loud. Teens hang out all night and smoke. Random shady characters are always at the swings after 5. One of my students was punched in the face as a kid because she witnessed a drug deal.
GANG PROBLEMS. The kids are bloods and there are quite a few crips at Auburn Chase so there are always fights.
I was stuck in a lease I couldn't break and I wish I had just lived with other friends; it would have saved me a lot of stress and sanity.
There were never any outdoor lights on my side and it was incredibly dark and dangerous at night. When they worked they were very dull.

I dont think she's talking about the same Hidenwood North in Newport News. We don't have a swing set, the outside lights are never out, and I've never seen gang violence here. I've been a tenant for over 3 years and I've never seen these problems.

I think she's refering to the Hiden place apartments which is located across the street. (middlesex rd turn right to warwick, behind mc donald's) because it's the apartment i know which is close to auburn chase.
