I only been living here for 3 months and ready to GET THE HELL OUT and I would suggest that if you are a person who works hard to have nice things this may not be the place for you. The bugs here are a problem and I put in a request to have my apartment exterminated. Well that morning I forgot to put my engagement ring on and came home to it missing[someone affiliated with River Mews swiped my ring]...after have gone to the rental office[of course no one knows what Im talking about Im just a crazy 23 year old] and received a whole bunch of bs, I then filed a police report because this kind of behavior is unacceptable I should be able to leave expensive items in my home knowing they will be there when I return but not at River Mews.

I have been reading the reviews and not sure why everyone has a problem with River Mews. I have been here three years with no problems. bugs are a problem everywhere down south, you have to keep you screens shut and your apartment clean to but you will have some. the apartments are not the best built units,need more insulation but apartments around here are like that. I check out other units on a regular basis, but thethe location, price and value here is good. My unit is small but well laid out. pool is nice, management has re-coated the asphalt, power washed the siding, keeps the grounds clean and trimmed, the laundry is cheaper than ones down the road. The office staff is polite and maintenance has always been prompt and efficient. The complex is off noisy Warwick Blvd and there are some trees, a playground and some other nice features. I checked the police records before moving in, crime is lower than the rest of Newport News. I do feel the need to keep my truck and doors locked, but that is part of living in Newport News. Neighbors are quiet as well. There is an ongoing problem with the trash bin, it can be messy, but many people just dump their trash on the ground. it is a people problem. Overall, I am satisfied. Wish their was a bike rack, but that is a minor consideration.
