I have been living in the Hague for over 3 years now. At first, I was in love with the place...I loved the pool and the proximity to Granby St and even my little studio that's big enough for just me. But now, I can't stand it! The only reason that I stay is that I'm waiting on grad school to move anywhere. The parking is awful, especially if you get home past 9 pm (which I do every night). The water is turned off or the hot water is off at random times (usually when you need to shower) without warning. The carpet is cheap and the walls are nearly impossible to nail anything in to. The huge windows are nice but they didn't provide any way of hanging blinds or curtains. So if you live on a lower floor, say goodbye to privacy. Also, say good morning to the early morning sun which will wake you up (a real problem to those of us who work 2nd or 3rd shift). The front desk people are older, usually asleep (not much on the security); there are cameras around the building but not out in the parking lot or by the bike shed. Bikes were stolen out of the shed last year and the solution given by the office'' That that's why I have renter's insurance (yup, I'm supposed to use my $500 deductible to buy a new bike). They did change the lock which I found pointless since you had to have a key before so obviously it was an inside job to begin with. All of this on top of the insanely high rent you have to pay just makes it not worth living here...but I'm stuck until I get into grad school... :(

I am one of the managers at The Hague Towers. My name is Rachel, I have been working here for a year and half and I truly love it here. In comment to the concerns with parking, we are decal controlled. A studio and one bedroom only one decal is issued. If you live in a two bedroom you are issued two decals. If you have guest that have automobiles and want to spend the night, we ask for their cars to be parked off the property. There is a city parking garage across the street. We do what we can to make sure cars that are on the property are ???street??? ready. Street ready means drivable by state laws. Residents are contacted immediately to rectify the issues. We have done random towing to control offenders. We do have a bike shed that residents are issued a key, a resident lost a key. As soon as we found out a key was lost, we replaced the lock and we have not any more issue of stolen bikes since. We do have cameras through out the building and in our parking lots. We have alert and professional staff at our front desk 24 hours a day. We did just get new double pained windows, (project was completed summer 2007) we provide mini blinds on the actual windows. If residents decide to put curtains/vertical blinds/shades on the sliding glass doors they may do so at their expense. Some residents have done so. Our building was built in 1964, the owners have done a wonderful job keeping this building as up-to-date as possible. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to call me or stop by the office, as my door is always open. Thank you, Rachel Hague Towers, Management 757-622-3351 www.haguetowers.com Cc: Jerry Sachs, Owner of Hague Towers

Thank you Rachel for addressing most of my points. However, I wrote this opinion on this site because this website is a service to others looking for apartments. I understand that you are trying to defend Hague Towers, but this was my opinion, and one held by many of the tenants. Posting a reply on this website is your prerogative, but I was not expecting a personal response from you and was caught off-guard by the fact that you researched the author of the review. Please continue to take into consideration what I have written because they are issues that should be addressed for future tenants.

having lived here myself for a couple of years, i have to agree w/a lot of what was said above and have to laugh at rachel's response. and looking over a lot of the other posts on this site i have to ask, why the hell is the only selling point to this place the damn widnows? sure, their nice and all, great views...but it's like all of rachels responses go back to them! and she obvisouly has never been in a studio. b/c if she had, she would keep repeating how they installed blinds. blinds on PART of the windows are great if you have a bedroom to change your clothes in. blinds are great if you're not tryint to sleep in the same room with a huge open window. and the girl wasn't even saying curtains should hve been provided, just that a WAY ot hang them would be nice. for those that have never been insidde, the walls and ceilings are made out of some hard sheet rokc or concrete or something that's impossible to drill into and the windows are surrounded by metal. so you're pretty much left with duck-taping curtains over the windows if you want any privacy or light reduction. anyway, enough about the windows. i agree, water is turned off at random times and rarely announced in advance. there ARE cameras around the perimeter of the building, but never seen them in the far corners of the parking lot, and theyre not around the bike shed (which is a pretty dark corner at night b/c there's no lights back there either). the old people that slept or watched tv all night are slowly being replaced by good workers. the ones that work during the day, even tho their kinda old, are still pretty scary if your gonna be bad, so they're cool. so yeh, the place is ok but not really worth the high rents they charge. and i've heard from a ton of people how 2-faced rachel is, so i'm not surprised that she took the time to respond to the earlier posts in defense but not actually do anything to make things better. maybe when all the other new apt/condos go up and people no long wanna live here, they'll make some changes cause obvioulsy they don't care too much how people living here feel.

I have been living there in a studio sine June and I like it very much. There is a way to hang curtains in the windows, I am using spring tension curtain rods and they work great and no problems. I think all the front desk people are very polite and helpful. On my first night there the desk person made a point of helping me to find a grocery store nearby. I feel very safe and plan to stay here.
