I have lived at Royal Mace for four years and I will not be renewing my lease for several reasons:

Royal Mace is now trying to make the apartments "luxury" apartments. But get this:

True, the upgraded walls are not white. All the bathroom fixtures have been upgraded (which beats the hell out my 10 cent fixtures where the "silver" is now gold. However, I decided not to upgrade for several reasons.

First of all, you have one parking spot and there is a very, very limited amount of parking for non-residents. Forget about having any company -- It's a pain in the neck!!!

Secondly, the elevators are shot. You have say a pray everytime you get in them and hope God hears your prayer so you won't be stuck in the elevator. I have my cell phone any time that I have to ride the elevator.

Third, and most important, if you're a cook, the kitchen sucks -- big time. I can't cook in my kitchen because there is no counter space. I have had to take items from the oven on carry them into the living room/dining room combo to put them down. The cabinets are worse yet. Certainly, don't expect more than one person in the kitche --it's not possible. Simply put, if it's not microwaveable, it will not be cooked in my kitchen. The sad part is, the newly renovated apartments have not addessed the kitchen issue. They still suck.

I have read another review where they're happy with the maintenance crew & office staff. Apparently, he just moved in here. I beg to differ. For instance in August 07, the pipe to the tub in the upstairs apartment broke. The maintenance crew had to come into my apartment and rip out part of my bathroom ceiling in order to fix the problem. This is now December 07, and yes they at least covered the hole (which was left open for about a month) and threw some spacking on it. A couple of months ago, the office called me to see if the job was completed. I said "No, it looks like ----" it's still that way today.

Get this, last week the handle on the tank of my toilet quit working. The reason being is because every three months the maintenance crew is here because the chain won't stay on the handle. The maintenance crew keept gerry rigging it so they wouldn't have to replace the $1.99 handle. Needless to say, this last time the handle was so corroded that it crumbled when I touched it. Well figuring I would be on my death bed before maintence ever responsed, I figued it would be easier & less frustrating if I waited for the maintenace crew to fix it, I would fix the problem myself. One day last week, I came home and my toilet was fixed. I couldn't figure out why until I listened to my messages in my voice mail. Came to find out the toilet was leaking to the apartment beneath me. You do not have to be a rocket scientist to realize that the handle on the tank has absolutely nothing to do with that propblem and that the wax seal on the base of the toilet needed to be replaced.
The first house I ever owned had this same problem. By the time I realized it, it cost extensive damage. I had to put in a new sub floor and everything. I decided to do the neighborly thing and I called the rental office the next day saying that the problem was'nt fixed. They didn't care. Felecia said "Well we'll see". Bottom line, the maintenace and some personnel in the rental leave alot to be desired.

I would not recommend this at all. Like the other reviewer said, If you have a one bedroom, expect to have to have sex with you're neighbors -- You will hear it.
