And I am excited! The apartments are pretty small which is nice for a single person or a couple with no kids, or friends for that matter. The pool is small and dirty and staffed by guys who don't speak English, but that's ok since it is closed for the season anyway. The laundry room has machines for only $1 a load, with the ability to wash about 5 items per washer. If you live on the side by the Chinese buffet you will be greeted daily by their amazing smelling dumpster and the dirty water that washes out of it into the street and onto your car. And not to mention the dumpster right by your building. There are wild cats ALL over the place that will be sure to give you a heart attack by jumping out of said dumpster right at you after foraging for food for its kittens. Your heating/AC bill will be outrageous, as there seems to be no end to the escape of your hard earned money out of the windows. The train right on the other side of the buildings will cause countless traffic backups and noise and hobos strolling through the neighborhood. Everything floods when it rains. The staff has recently changed and for the most part seem clueless, which is nice. Hopefully none of your appliances have the third prong, because I only have 2 outlets in the whole place that will take them. Oh, and the rent is going up soon, so hopefully you have RPP or your last name is Moneybags. Parking is on the street only so be advised that just going up the street is a hassle in itself. And as in all of Hampton Roads, don't leave anything in your car (ANYTHING) or it will be broken into and taken. It happened to me! I can hear everything my upstairs and side neighbors are doing. Ugh....EVERYTHING! And I can smell what they cook sometimes. But there is one upside to Sterling Oaks, and that is the maintenance. They are very nice, have cool golf carts to ride around in, which is sweet. They do work hard to get anything fixed for you in a timely manner, so I have no complaints there. And the grass (where it isn't all patchy) is quite lovely.
