Think About It Carefully

I moved into the Village at the last minute and I regret that I did it within the first 2 weeks I moved there. They do a horrible job pairing the roommates. They treat it like it's a dorm, when they need to, but they are horrible at trying to repair roommate situations. You have to be really mature and have a high tolerance for patience to live here. The best thing about this complex is that there aren't many bugs here. EXCEPT, the other day, I came home and saw a roach the size of the big, plastic ones people use to scare people during Holloween and he tried to outrun me to the door. Eww... Also, the stupidest thing about the bathrooms---ladies, there are only 2 outlets on the vanity and they are only on one side of the vanity so if you and your roommates don't get along, good luck with that! The parking...what parking!!! That's all I need to say about that. If you have to move for any reason, like change rooms, you have to pay a $100 moving fee. If you loose your keys, $75-150, depending on which key you loose (room or apartment). The electricity went out a lot for no good reason and oh my god...the fire alarm goes off when you are blow drying your hair, but not when there is an electrical fire in the laudromat, which costs $1.00 to wash/dry and don't think you are getting any change from the change machine. The only thing I can say is, if you move here, expect to be frustrated and unsatisfied with the rudeness of the staff and probably problems with your roommates or the people around you. A few times, I heard the people above me having sex and it sounded like they were in the room with me. Be careful living near the shops, my roommates and I called the front office because we smelled gas and they told us that we shouldn't be smelling gas because nothing was gas and to call them tomorrow if we still smelled it. Uh, don't you die from too much gas consumption'!' Duh!! So we went next door to the shop, where we finally figured out it was coming from there and the rental office didn't come until an hour later when we decided to call the non-emergency police and report the smell. There is no way to get out of the lease, no matter what. You'll have to find someone to sublease the room and you know what, just when you think you are done with the apartment, you have to pay $100 to give them the lease. It's rediculous there. Just be careful. The rent has gone up and if you think about it, the price you pay, you could probably get an apartment by yourself and not have to worry about this stuff. Just think about it carefully. Needless to say, I DO NOT recommend this, I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy... Yeah, it's like that. Good luck!

Oh: The area around ODU has a LOT of crime. Someone got raped in broad daylight on the street right behind Building 1, where I lived and someone got robbed in the parking lot adjacent to the building 1 parking lot.
