Sucks...bad

An apartment in our building was broken into over the winter, parking was an absolute nightmare (especially on game nights as the high school is nearby), there's no good place on property to walk with one's dogs, and the office is never open when you need it to be. For a place that has 9-5 hours, 5 days a week, they're only there maybe two or three days. And the office staff has changed three times in the last six months; ironically, office and grounds policy changes every time as well.

Now, the fire station is right down the road, police drive by the complex often thanks to the refueling station by the high school, and the neighbors don't suck.

But, the walls are thin and water-stained, there is mold, and roly-poly's everywhere, along with fleas and spiders (that have yet to be identified...big, dark and hairy spiders.) The appliances are very old, and need repair on a fairly regular basis.

The children in the complex are often out-of-doors unattended, causing damage to vehicles. There's a lot of unauthorized traffic into the apartments, which always made me nervous.

Maintenance was great at this place, though. Although it occasionally took them awhile to get out to you, the job was finished pretty quick.

Complaints to the office often go unheard, as the same problem exists after the complaint has been made.

You couldn't pay me to live in these apartments again. Don't move here.

Oh, and you can't do laundry in your apartment unless you rent the tiny stackable washer-dryer units from the office. The washer hooks up to the sink to fill and drain. Otherwise, you're stuck paying $1.50 at the tiny laundry room to wash your clothes, and $1.50 to dry. Not fun.

They also tack on the water and gas onto your rent every month, which kicks rent up another 50-150 dollars per month.

I have to completely disagree with everything in this except for the comment on maintenance. For one, I have very rarely been to the office and it not be open. I do know, however, that there is typically only one person in the office, always has been, and if they are out to lunch or out walking on the property, the door may be locked. And how do you know that the "traffic" is unauthorized? Do you know EVERYONE that lives around you? I'm sorry, but I've lived here for 4 years, and there has not been a complaint yet that has gone unheard. And as far as utilites, it doesn't "kick" up your rent. You are paying for your utilities that you use, something that most likely you already knew when you moved in since they started doing that last year sometime. I hope that when your lease is up you can find somewhere that you are happy.
