I can't imagine living anywhere else

I have a huge apartment with a balcony overlooking a little inlet portion of the Elizabeth River. I love waking up every day and going outside to enjoy the view. I would have preferred to overlook Norfolk but they didn't have anything open. The staff is wonderful. The amenities including the shopping carts to get your groceries inside are great. I'd rather have laundry in my apt. but it's conveniently on each floor. I have very few things to complain about: paper thin walls, you can smell your neighbors dinner since there is such a large space between the bottom of the door and the floor, the elevators and parking are so-so, and the pool is pretty small. On the pool note, the sundeck and pool are on the North-East side of the building so you only get so many hours of sunlight. If you can get over that, I think the price is equivalent to the apartment. I love how you don't have the typical cream cabinets with the wooden handles, or the hideous out of date appliances. The counters are fake black marble and the cabinets are all wood. The building seems to attract a lot of older people so it is usually quiet. If you are young, no one seems to complain if you get loud. I wouldn't take the bottom two floors if you have a balcony, they stick out about 5 feet more than the other 23 floors and I would imagine it accumulates trash. It seems like every other weekend, they have something going on (festivals etc.).
I am a really light sleeper and have a tough time with the shipyard being so close. They weld at night, normal people wouldn't notice, I do.
I re-signed my lease last month. I wish I didn't have to leave next year!

These apts. are fantastic. The best in area and view is great. A little pricey but well maintained. If you will put in a maintenance request they will put a strip at bottom of your door to block out any air coming in from the hallways.
I disagree with your comment about the older people not complaining about you being loud. The walls are thin so you need to respect neighbors. Loud music and loud noises are not tolerated. The office will be sending you an incident letter if you are guilty, asking you to stop.
