Overpriced and poorly maintained.

I've been living here over a year, and I've been more and more disappointed the longer I've been here. At first, the issues were of the "I expect more for what I'm paying" variety. Lately, it's gotten to the point that I'd expect more from a $600/month dive.

The most recent issue was the heat pump. The air exchanger is over the closet. Any home I've owned has had a drip pan underneath the air exchanger if it's in the attic, but not here. I'm on the second floor, so I have to run the a/c all year, even when it's 40F outside because of heat coming through the floors. But when it's colder outside than the a/c is set, the unit drips water down into my closet. The only way to stop this is to keep it colder inside than outside, and freeze, or not run the air at all, and bake.....in the winter.

I have a dead internet jack in my bedroom, and all I seem to get is the runaround. After about 6 months, I finally just gave up on getting that to work. The garbage disposal broke to the point that I couldn't even run water in the sink, and it took them 5 days to fix it. The apartment door has a 1/2 gap under it. So you get no real noise reduction, and also get the joy of heating or cooling the hallway. The floors and ceiling are incredibly thin, to the point that I can hear conversations above and below me.

The key fob system has failed a couple of times, so I was stuck outside until someone happened to be leaving the building. More recently, the door wouldn't latch at all, completely defeating the point of a security system. We've had our car broken into once. There was another stretch where the lights near my garage didn't work, which didn't make my girlfriend feel very safe when leaving for work in the mornings. This would not have been a problem if we had options in parking. But if you rent a garage, you have to park in front of it, and the garage they had available for me was nowhere near my building.

The staff was all very pleasant when I moved here. But they've gone downhill as well. There's one woman left that's nice to deal with. She's actually the only reason I don't put a single star down for "Staff". The rest aren't very friendly, and definitely aren't very competent. On more than one occasion, I've gone to get packages that UPS said had arrived. Then the office said there was nothing there. Their system is to write the apartment number on the side with a marker so they can find it in the storage room. But that's not very effective when they write the wrong number on the box.

Basically, I place moving into this apartment as the second worst thing I've done in at least a decade, topped only by marrying my ex-wife.
