I liked in Highland Village for 2 years and do not regret it. The price was incredibly reasonable, the apartments included everything we wanted (washer, dryer, dishwasher, kitchen), and utilities were included in the rent. Recently the parking situation at the complex buildings got better as the management issued parking pemits for each resident. The place was a great place to live and study.

There are a couple issues with the complex however. The buildings are older; they used to be all 4 bedroom apartments and then they split them up into smaller apartments (1, 2, and 3 bedrooms). Because of this, the air condition and heating vents are shared between the apartments. For example if you live in a 2 bedroom, the apartment that is behind yours is also on the same AC and being in the 2 bedroom you most likley control their air and heat. Also, the walls and floors sometimes seem paper thin. You can easily hear the people in the room/apartment behind you (their TVs, them talking, playing music, etc.). This also goes for above and below you - if you can, live on the 3rd floor to try to avoid this issue. Maintenance was sometimes a bit slow, but if there was a big problem, it got fixed quickly.
