This has been the worst experience I have ever had with an apartment community. The staff is incompetent and very unknowledgeable. They have failed to return my security deposit for over 90 days and there lease says it will be mailed within 30 days so my family has contacted an attorney.

Have you called the office to see why you have not gotten your deposit back? Was it due to damage?

Forget that, just take the idiots with a warrant of debt if you didn't damage the place. Under VA state law (see virginia residential landlord & tenant act) they have 72 hours to inspect the apartment. Upon inspection, they are obligated to return either the security deposit in full or in partial accompanied with an itemized listing of damages & cost. I believe they have no more than 60 days to accomplish this. Just take your papers to court.
