When moving to Radford, I had such difficulty finding an apartment since I was transferring in for fall and just decided to in April. Hunters Ridge was one of the few that still had vacancies that were in my price range. I was thrilled to find a place starting at $255 per person for a 4br. And the one good thing about Hunters Ridge is the individual leases, so you are not responsible for people you are placed with.
No, Hunters Ridge is not a TERRIBLE place, but its not even close to being the best.

1) When maintenance men have come to fix things such as the water heater and we're not home, they'll leave the front door WIDE open while they are draining it and leave to do something else for an hour or two. I came back to my apartment to find a little red maintenance sign hanging on the doorknob of my open front door. So anyone could have went in and robbed us.
2) They flip flop about the pet policy. Their contracts state that renters cannot have pets. But when you move in, you'll see plenty of residents with animals. I've talked to some and most of them stated that all you need is a doctor's note saying you "need" it as a friend. When a roommate of mine asked the office about this, she said no, its not allowed and cannot be done for her. Yet there is plenty of other dogs being walked and taken into Hunter's Ridge apartments. Funny.
3) Towing. They do indeed tow. But beware, its by Valley Towing from blacksburg. If you havent heard of them, do a google search and you'll find a nice site dedicated to them; valleytowingsucks.com . Anyways, a friend of mine stayed and his truck was parked in a visitor space. It was towed 4:30am the next morning. No warning, no nothing. He was parked where he was suppose to and he got towed. And between HR and the towing company, you'll be going back and forth while both parties blame eachother. We're still disputing it.
4) Parking in general. During the day during the week it is totally fine. But when it comes to the weekends and sometimes even during the evenings at nights, its a total nightmare if you come in after 8pm. You won't find any close spaces and funny how most of the cars won't have decals.

I mean, you'll most likely have problems no matter where you live. Its just how the landlord / office handles them. And before I moved in this semester, I read these reviews on here and wondered if the last few were correct and I gave it a shot. And I have to sadly disagree. Hunters Ridge is a terrible place to live. But if thats all you can afford, you learn to make due.
