Your living experience in this complex depends completely on your relationships with people in the office as well as the maintenance men. When you first meet the people in the office you will, as I did, think they are the nicest people. But, like all things in life they are not what they seem. They are just being nice to you so you ll sign a lease and after that they don t really care what happens to you.
My roommates and I were forced into resigning our lease because our lives had been threatened while living in our first apartment. They did ABSOLUTELY nothing to protect us, just told us to call the cops. The cops ended up being able to charge them for possession of marijuana, and they then cornered us in the parking lot threatening us. We told management we would like to relocate to another building for our safety and they told us that we d have to sign a new lease and PAY a new redecorating fee. They pretend to care about their residents, but they don t. The only reason they have started to care about resident s safety this year is because a lot of bad things have happened in the complex, a lot of dangerous incidents, which has forced them to fake caring. So they hired security guards that walk around that can t really do anything if something bad is happening besides call the police, and half the time their pager doesn t even work. And if you see them out they are flirting with young girls, laughing at drunken people, I don t blame them their job is a joke.
With maintenance, befriend them. Be nice to them or they will try to fine you for everything possible. If you re friends with them you can have a pet. You can break things. You can be messy, whatever. If you do not expect hefty charges constantly, even for things you aren t responsible for. Also known as trash near your apartment that must be yours because obviously drunken people from above your apartment or walking by can t throw cans, break your screen door, or leave trash everyone.
It s an okay place, they really just need to hire people in the office that are real, that actually care about people. Because they ll give you a smile and a swift kick basically. They ll over charge you, because they are a business trying to profit from you. Things may be changing in Hunters Ridge, but it s only due to bad things occurring before the office began to care.
