I lived in Archstone for almost three years, and had one terrible experience after another with the leasing office. Firstly, they're very sneaky with the move-in cost, be sure to take special note that the deposit you might think you'll get back is actually a move-in fee cost upwards of $400 that you'll never see again. My first really nasty experience started with my alarm not working, being a single female living on the first floor, this concerned me. I called and called, and never got any phonecalls back. Finally, I visited in person and they said they would fix it. Weeks turned into months and I called again still they did nothing, until finally 6-months into my lease they said it couldn't be fixed. I resigned my lease two more times, because I hate the hassle of moving, and each time they jacked up my rent $300-400 more. My next real issue was when I went to move...good luck. First, I tried just to find out what they would charge me if I didn't paint it back to white, and I couldn't get a straight answer from anyone. I called a number of times without any response again, so finally I went in there and found the manager (who I had been told wasn't in office that day when I had called earlier in the afternoon) who dodged me. By the time someone told me what it would be it was too late for me to paint and I had to eat the money. Overall, their management is extremely rude, and the only time they're really helpful is when you're signing or re-signing your lease.
