These apartments took a turn for the worse when they were bought out and changed their name from Carter Lake to Colvin Woods. The previous staff were so friendly and helpful. The present staff could care less about the tenants. Here is my summary: 1. Lots of Mold! 2. Government subsudized housing within one block so plenty of riff raff! 3. They are upgrading all their buildings so be prepared for NO Notice when they turn off electricity and water!. 4. Swimming pool only open from noon-7pm and CLOSED two days per week! 5. My puny one bedroom's rent is being raised almost $400! 6. They decided to implement a parking tag system and gave one day notice to get parking stickers! I was out of town on business when this happened and my car was towed! The workers were rude and wanted to argue with me about this issue! 7. When packages are forwarded to the office, they do not notify you and when you call to check on your packages, the lazy workers tell you faulty information! 8. 50% of the exercise equipment is broken and the remainding 50% are filthy! 9. The laundry room uses a card and was just updated a week ago to accept new money. We used to have to save old bills. 10. Dog dung everywhere! 11. One good point: The gorgeous view of the adjacent woods. I have been traveling all my life, and these apartments are only one step up from living in a tent in Iraq!

Yeah, this review is correct!!!! Its sad to say but they have down hill. They want to charge $1300 for a 1BR apt (the one bedroom comes in two different sizes but the rent is still the same). They say everythings is being upgraded but and alot nicer but you can live at the high rise in Reston Town Center for a little more and that apt tower is BRAND NEW!!!!!!!! I used to like it back there but management is being absurd to charge high rent when the apt complex in front of Colvin Woods is subsidized housing. Depending on what time of day or night you can have children just running out in the street, a group of teenagers hanging around cars or adults outside loitering. Think twice before you rent here. You can go someplace else and do much better for the rent they are charging.

It's a shame to hear what happened here. I left just before the change, and loved my time at Carter Lake. The staff were just so friendly. Awful to hear they're all gone, and that all the beautiful trees are gone.
