When I first moved in here, two and a half years ago, living hear was quite pleasant. The leasing office staff was helpful and quick to respond toany issues you had. Since the property has changed owners once or twice since then, Carter lake has taken a huge turn for the worst.

The biggest issue is the staff. They could care less about the residents and are all about squeezing the most money out of you as possible. After being a good resident for so long and never paying my rent late, they found a way to screw me out of $1300 dollars. They said I never gave a 60 day notice to leave, which I did, and the dumbass receptionist didnt bother to make note of it.

Aside from my 1300 dollar bill to depart by the last day of my lease, the place is a dump. I tolerated it at first becasue it was cheap and I was just starting out in VA, since then, the rent has skyrocketed and things are only worse.

There are bugs everywhere, huge spiders and cockroaches. My bathroom is from the 60's with mold everywhere and the toilet barely flushes. My refrigerator leaks water and does'nt stay cold. And these are just the issues with the inside of the place. Go outside and you will be lucky if you don't break your neck on the cheap ass rubber stairs they just installed. Good luck getting by all the migrate workers swarming the property 24-7 as well. Then when you get to the parking lot, good luck finding your car as it can get towed for no reason. ( i had to spend 150 dollars once becasue they towed me)

So my advice is to stay away. Ive seen many places that a much nicer. This place is on its last leg.

Carter Lake, take my 1300 bucks and have fun spending it on your next pointless maintenance project to put perfume on this pig.

what I recommend is that ALL the current and prior tenants get together to file a joint class action lawsuit against Colvin Woods...Combined we should be able to at least make a point...and maybe even get reimbursed for our combined pain!!!
