I moved into the complex back in 2004 when the old Carter Lake staff was still running the property. I have to say that when they sold they place about a year or so later, things definitely started to go downhill in terms of the management caring about their tenants. The operation that's been in charge over the last year or so has been particularly bad.

Back in February 2008, they had workmen come into my apartment to upgrade the wall thermostat. Didn't give any notice. I had no chance to move a pile of my books underneath it and had to clean up the mess (sawdust, etc.) left by them. And they just barely avoided ruining a watercolor painting by my late mother.

I did not see anything posted around the building about this work, was not mailed anything or personally contacted in any way. When I spoke to the rental office, they claimed just the opposite, to which I replied, "Lady, if that was the case, we wouldn't be having this conversation." Then I got a notice on my door about a week later concerning that same work...for another building.

Several months earlier, we were given less than 24 hours notice to make sure that workmen could access the sliding glass door to our balconies to replace them. No one told us they were also replacing the windows. I had quite a bit of cleaning up to do after that, including some rather sharp pieces of sheet metal left on my floor. I sent one of them to the rental office in the envelope along with my complaint list.

They can't even give you a day's notice about coming in to unclog you bathroom sink. Excuse me if I want to move my toothbrush, etc. out of the way!

The apartment management here exhibits some really unprofessional and sloppy behavior. I mean, how much effort does it take to print up and post a notice saying, "Keep certain areas clear in your apartment because workmen are coming in one day this week"' And they will never return your calls.

After that incident in February, I am already looking around for another place.
