The management is horrible. The front office staff is horrible. The maintenance is horrible.
Front office staffers are very unfriendly, unwilling to work with you, and make promises they can't keep. They believe that if you go in with a complaint, they can just raise their voice above yours to make the issue go away. They also told me 3 days before my move-in date that the apartment we agreed upon was no longer available. Their suggested replacement unit had none of the requirements I had asked for and they were not willing to find an apartment on their property that worked for me. Amazingly, they called me back 20 minutes later and agreed to bump me up to a 2 bedroom apartment for no change in my rent price. The only good thing that happened during my time here...
The maintenance crew is terribly lacking in manpower and in knowledge of how to actually fix anything. Three visits to fix the washer, which is still not working properly. Three weeks to get a "specialized" lightbulb that doesn't fix the space. Leaky roofs and ovens that set fire when you turn them on, etc, etc. And the best for last...6 months and still waiting for them to patch the hole in my bedroom wall from the squirrel that lived there. Yes, I have a squirrels nest hanging out of my wall...
Residents are constantly subjected to horrible grounds maintenance as stated in other reviews (such as plowing snow 4 days after it snows, which is very useful...last winter they didn't plow anything at all). This is unfortunate because the complex looks wonderful from the outside. We were also told this winter that the complex had run out of rock salt and they would not be getting anymore. This with 2 inches of ice on the ground and steps leading to apartments. Several people I know slipped and fell...hopefully they get their bills taken care of, but I won't hold my breath.
The corporate offices know there are problems here and they apparently chose to do nothing about it. The best hope for the Summit Reston is to sell the property to another company. Let them plow down the buildings and start again.
