Years at this apartment: 2003-01-01 - 2004-01-01
First of all, it seems like there has been a downward trend looking at the ratings.
The good news is, these apartments can't get much worse.
Here are my experiences...
When I first moved in my oven smoked horribly every time I wanted to cook something.
I knew exactly what the problem was - the last time it had been cleaned there was too much solution used and it needed to be burned off.
Since I should not have to endure the pain of listening to my smoke alarm go off for half an hour while opening the windows to let it burn off I put in a service request, told them exactly how to fix the problem and waited.
After a week went by, I went back and was told THAT I NEVER SUBMITTED A REQUEST.
Finally after coming back once a week for the next month and a half, it was taken care of after they came numerous times and "cleaned" the oven with the same solution that was causing the problem.
Idiot maintenance.
Then, I notice that my heat tends to blow air that is much cooler than the ambient air for about 10 minutes before any actual heat begins to circulate.
I also notice that there is cold air blowing through my balcony sliding door because there is no weatherstripping.
So I go to the office to make a service request.
They tell me that it's probably just an air filter and it has NOTHING TO DO with the fact that I can see through the crack in the patio door.
I'm also experiencing huge electric bills and after consulting neighbors and other tenants I determine that I am paying way too much for my electricity bills.
I confront them with this and they tell me to bring in copies of my bills and I'll receive discounted rent.
This was all about 4 months ago, I've yet to hear from them but they did come and change the air filter.
Very little change in electric bill.
Then, a couple of months ago, there is a huge septic backup that ruins the apartments on the first floor (luckily, I lived on the third).
It takes them TWO DAYS to get the water turned back on.
This would be moderately acceptable if they'd actually spent the two days fixing the problem.
If you have tenants grossly inconvenienced by such a problem, don't you think you would work around the clock to get it back to normal' Apparently not, since they didn't work on the problem before 9am or after 5pm.
That in itself shows you how much they care about tennants.
It also took them 5 months to attempt to cash my security deposit check.
I get a notice on my door saying that it will be cashed the next day (many others had this happen, also).
The check happened to lead to an old bank account that I hadn't used since I moved that didn't have any money in it at all! I had to write them a new check, messing up my budget - oh yeah, they haven't cashed that one yet either.
They try to treat me like an idiot every time I go to see them about something, especially service requests.
I've actually had someone ask me, "Are you sure you actually came in and made that request' Because I can't find it..." It's insulting.
Horrible management, sub-par apartments and incapable maintenance crew.
