A comfortable place to live, but expensive

Years at this apartment: 2009 - 2009

I've lived here almost a year, and have been fairly satisfied with it. Our dishwasher and garbage disposal keeps breaking, but maintenance is good about coming within 1 day to fix it. It was pretty obvious the paint job was done in a hurry (they missed some sections). We rarely hear our neighbors, but do hear people in the hallway easily. The building is very friendly. I used to live in another highrise and no one ever spoke, so I was a bit taken aback when I moved here.
The employees at the front desk are great. Ana is amazing! She knows everyone in the building and will ask how you are whenever you walk by. She lets you know when you have a package and really takes an effort to be helpful to the residents. She also gives the dogs treats whenever they come in from a walk.
My main complaint is the garage. The garage door has worked maybe 2 weeks out of the entire year I've lived here. We did have an incident were a couple cars got broken into. There also have been problems of a substance dripping on cars. I have a large spot on the trunk of my car I haven't been able to get off.
The other issue I have with the apartment is the price. The rent is already high enough, then they charge you for using the amenities. If you have more then 4 people on the roof or in the movie theatre, you have to pay a high rental fee. They even charge $4 to replace lightbulbs that burn out in your apartment. It just seems like I keep paying them money.
Overall, I've felt safe here and have been happy. I am not renewing my lease though because of the money. Utilities are also pretty high here. We have floor to ceiling windows, which are very pretty (great views). However, it makes our heat/AC bill ridiculous. During the winter, there is a bad wind problem. You can literally feel and hear the wind in the apartments. Then during the summer, you're in direct sun.
I would also think twice before moving in with a dog. I have one, and there aren't many places to take him out quickly. Its at least a 10 minute ordeal to take him out everytime (without a walk). On really windy days, the elevator takes a long time to get to your floor. We've been cutting it close a few time. The small areas by the street that are available are very messy. They really need to get another trash can/dog pick up station on the property. We have to use the neighboring buildings set up.
This apartment just isn't fitting my needs anymore. But I was happy while it lasted.
