Waterside Apartments
< | >
Living at Waterside Apartments has been a horrible experience. The problems that I have had with Waterside Apartments have stemmed mainly from the staff/management team.
Without getting into too much detail - Delores (the "manager") and I have had a few run ins that did not go over too well. The main one was when I was inquiring about a maintenance request my husband had submitted two days before New Years. I decided to go to the office on January 4th to discover why no one had come to our apartment yet. Delores handled my concerns in a very unprofessional way. I simply asked, "when might our request be taken care of'". Her response was, "I will check on that for you." I thought I would be able to sit there until she had an answer for me. WRONG! She looked at me with this disgruntled look - like she was dismissing me. She asked if there was anything else she could help me with. I replied no - I just wanted to wait to find out when our request would be taken care of. She informed me, with an ugly attitude, that I could not wait for an answer that she would be intouch with me later. She accused me of getting an attitude with her and as I was walking out of the door - she turned to some of the other people waiting and said "does anyone else want to give me attitude'" I thought that was very unprofessional and very rude.
In the summer time the pool does not open when it is suppose to. I spoke with one of the staff in the office earlier in the pool season and was told that the pool opens at ten in the morning and closes at eight in the evening every day. However, there have been three occassions when I have tried to go to the pool during operating hours and it has not been open. I might as well pay dues to the Reston Association and go to their pools at least I know they will be open.
The positive comments left on this page amuse me. Especially the one left by the person who is calling everyone whining babies - is he or she staff or something' Some of the apartments might be new in this complex - however, mine is not. It is old. Our apartment has old appliances that tend to work and not work. I don't put in maintenance requests, because nothing is done about them or they are "forgotten" to be written down or put in the system.
I suggest if you are looking into renting in this apartment complex you talk to a few of the residents. That way you will be able to make your own judgements, but do not listen to the staff - their job is to get you to rent here - so, it wouldn't surprise me if they twist the truth around.
Good luck.

I couldn't agree with you more. Dealing with Delores and the rest of the leasing staff was a nightmare. My boyfriend and I had signed a lease with Waterside and two weeks before we were to move in they called to inform us that the current tenants suddenly decided they wanted to resign another year. It left us in a very unfortunate situation because there were no vacant units and the agents were unwilling to return our deposit and application fee when it was their error! I couldn't believe it!
Thankfully, we found a much nicer apartment a few miles away with a friendly leasing staff (its not that hard to smile!), better amenities, and a pool that's open when it says it will be. I feel for those who currently reside at Waterside. The place is such a dump-- it's nice to drive by and know that I don't live there! Smile Delores! :-)
