I've lived in two different apartments at South Slope, and generally it hasn't been too bad. The apartments are a decent price, and fairly spacious.

However, we had a difficult experience when trying to move from a 1 BR to a 2 BR apartment. Weinstein actually evicted us from the old one considerably earlier than they'd promised, and with only a few days notice. Considering we were going to give them MORE of our money to trade up a level, I felt this was a poor show.

Some people say they feel unsafe walking around SS - I'm fine with it personally, but I guess it depends where you come from. The police have only been called out a couple of times that I remember.

Laundry facilities are pretty awful, but maintenance are usually pretty good (be nice to them, they do their best!). The walls are fairly thin so you'll probably hear a lot from your neighbours (and vice versa).

Parking is OK. The complex itself and the houses are not terribly attractive, but Forest Hill isn't too bad and there's a Food Lion within walking distance.

I'm hoping to move out soon and into a one-floor apartment - no stairs! - but if you're looking for a cheap, basic place to live, South Slope isn't a bad choice.
