I lived in Amber Ridge last summer. The apartments are old. There is kind of a weird old moldy smell inside, probably from years of smokers living there. When I moved out, I had to wash every single thing that I had there and throw some stuff away to get rid of the smell. Also, when I moved in, I had a horrible problem with fleas. It took almost a month to get rid of them. So basically what I'm saying is that you get what you pay for. My apartment was extremely cheap, which is what I was looking for at the time. And even though I had the horrible bug problem, the management and maintenance staff were AMAZING. Every time I had a problem, someone was there That day or the next morning to fix it. Excellent customer service!! They even reimbursed me for a whole month's rent for going through the whole extermination ordeal over and over again. Not all the units had fleas, mine was a special problem. Most likely it was the fault of the carpeting company who supposedly put "new" carpet down before I moved in. So if you don't mind an old AC unit and a musty smell (Glade plug-ins fixes that right up), then this is a great low-cost choice. I also am fairly certain than all the units were undergoing renovations when I was moving out -- new kitchens, cabinets, wallpaper, etc. Plus, these are all furnished, and the furniture is actually really nice. I was unlucky, but the staff truly is awesome and so friendly and helpful.
