I first moved in this place in Fall 2006, and have lived here for 2 years (plan to move out in a couple of months).My first year at the Berkshire was nice, since it is very conveniently located right across the VCU campus connector, and the management was nice and friendly. But my second year at Berkshire was horrible!! In spite of regularly cleaning the kitchen we found roaches running everywhere, and in spite of having all brand new furniture, our apartment got infested with bed bugs!!As mentioned in the earlier reviews, the whole apartment is infested with bed bugs, and the management has not taken any steps to control it. It was nightmarish, and the management was not very helpful. The management changes every year. The maintenance sucks as well. They never seem to fix the problem unless you send complaint requests atleast thrice!! The apartment is very spacious and the parking garage is very convenient, although you need to pay $70/month. The cabinets in the kitchen are made of the most inferior quality wood, and inspite of regular cleaning there would be wood shavings and saw dust in them. The rent includes all the utilities, but let me warn you about the central heating and cooling. We have had icy cold winter nights with the central heating not working, and hot summer days when the air conditioner refuses to cool the apartment.
