Nice

I moved here to go to UR for law school. I have been here a few months, and thought I would write a review (since this site helped me find the place).

price: Excellent price. It was up to half the price of some of the other places we looked.

Location: I was new to the area and worried that it was so far from downtown. The location is actually great, you are in the middle of everything. I can get to downtown in under 10 min. It takes me just over 5 min to get to UR.

The apartments: They are old. Mine was painted and re-carpeted when we moved in, but they are old apartments. We just had an electrical problem over the weekend which killed power to our upstairs. They sent a maintenance guy the same day, and then an electrician monday morning.

heating/cooling: The temperature variation in them kinda sucks (but you live with it). The AC cools the downstairs, but does not do a good job on the upstairs. I bought a fan for each upstairs room and put it over the AC vent, and that works pretty well.

noise: My apartment is at the very end in a sort of off-shoot from the rest, so it is really quiet. I am not sure about the other areas though.

grounds: Nothing very pretty, but they keep everything clean.

Safety: I checked on the safety, and talked to a police officer. There are few violent crimes, and few true break-ins. But NEVER leave your door/sliding door open/unlucked. The kids in the neighborhood will still stuff if you do.

The area is mostly black families, although there are a number of college students scattered around. I am very 'white college student', but everyone has been really nice, and just about everyone says hi.

There are at least 2 police officers that live near where my townhouse is, and I am sure there are others. That makes me feel a bit better.

I probably wouldnt hang out outside alone at night. But I am never worried going to and from my car to my house at night.

Laundry: There are quite a few laundry areas. It costs like 1.50$ or so per load, and the dryers take about 2 times through to actually get stuff dry. Might be better off going elsewhere, but they are there if you need to do laundry.

Other: There are lots of stray cats. Weird. But they are friendly and not aggressive, so honestly I dont care.

Overall: I am definitely happy with the choice to move here. For the money, you get a lot of apartment.
