I have lived at Trolley Square for 4 years. I live in the west building. I was very excited to move here, being it was my first apartment that I had lived in by myself. I lived in totally awful apartments the previous 2 years, so Trolley Square seemed like heaven to me. My first 2 years there were okay, but then things started changing.

First was the removal of 24 hours security. I understand that the front door is access controlled, but until recently, the door didn't close all the way. Therefore, anybody could just walk into the building. The front lobby has been vandalized because of this. I have found homeless people in the stairways.

Don't even think about trying to have a package delivered there. Since there is no security during the day, housekeeping usually signs for it. If there is no housekeeping, then UPS and Fedex will deliver it to the other building, but the mailman will just leave the packages at the front desk. I have had 2 packages lost, one that was found opened in the security desk, and one that was found under the security desk. If a package does get delivered to the other building, the rental office does not notify you.

The air conditioning breaks every summer and it's the same problem every year. Then is takes a week to fix it because they have to order a certain part. I really think they should just order 10 of those parts to have on hand when it does break.

The elevators are also a big problem. Either they don't work, or they are slow, or they skip floors. They are just plain unsafe and management doesn't care.

Another thing, the staff at the rental office are just plain shifty. Recently new management has taken over, but the previous management were just as bad. The previous property manager called me one day and said that I owed them some back rent. When I showed up at the office with all of my money order stubs from the past three years, then she changed her mind and said that I was fine and I didn't owe anything. That sounds kinda nuts to me.

I really just think that this place is way over priced and it is because it is so close to the University. Students want to live there, and management can charge just about what they want. $630 a month for a studio is just way too much to pay for a broke down building.
