We love living here

After living in 3 different places (apartments) in Richmond, this has definitely been the best. There are so many things that I enjoy about our apartment. The people (residents and staff) are nice, considerate. The management has changed over the past year and a half and I have noticed that the "admission" of residents has eased up a bit as there is a Hispanic family that lives across the way who must be housing at least 10 people (and kids) in their apartment. Never had an issue with them though. Again, all are very nice.
If you park in a reserved spot, they'll tow you (so those jerks who think they can get away with taking your spot will lose their car).
Safety is good considering a lot of people cut through this complex or drive through to avoid lights. There was an incident about a year ago where a woman's apartment was broken into. The apartment staff was quick in providing an impromptu seminar on apartment safety and even hired a cop (who lives there) to answer tenant's questions. Very impressive and so responsible and caring. My partner and I were a little shocked considering our past experiences with landlords at other apartments could have cared less about our safety just as long as you were paying the rent.
You are in the middle of everything. Carytown is a short walk away, Monument Avenue is great for runners, and there are tennis courts just over the I-195 bridge. A great place if you want some of the city air without having to the deal with the downtown dirt.
Noise may seem like it is a problem since there are trains that pass by every hour or so. You tend to forget that they are even there and at this point I find them comforting. A little vibration every now and then is not so bad. Again, you are in the city. Most tenants are quiet and go to bed early so there are no loud parties even though the patios make a great place to chill with a bunch of friends.
The backyard patio is great. It's fenced in and you are encouraged to garden. We have wine grapes growing, herbs, vegetables and enough room for a table and chairs and a BBQ grill. It becomes an outdoor living room for us when the weather allows for it. There is just something magical about a cookout out back at dusk.
The rent is reasonable. They notify you in advance (usually the day before) that they will be entering your apartment to do maintenance checks. They respond quickly when something isn't working.
Many memories have been made here and hopefully many more in the future until we move (due to job relocation, etc.)
