The apartment itself was ok, and I like the general appearance of the complex (duck pond, swimming pool, sun deck, tennis court, etc). It was a great location for my husband and I. The staff is friendly and helpful most of the time. Our only problem was moving out, they make that an absolute nightmare! First of all, after you leave they require a 10 day period to ready the apartment for the next tenant, and they charge you the rent for those 10 days that you don't even live there! Also, once you decide to move out they require you to pay to have the carpets professionally cleaned (you must turn in a receipt, so cleaning everything well on your own just doesn't cut it). We have a dog that we paid a $300 pet deposit for, non-refundable, and being a good dog she did absolutely nothing to the apartment that would require any amount of repair or replacement. We did end up breaking our lease (got a new job that required us to leave the area), and paid a $250 lease break fee, which we didn't mind. We were the first people to have an apartment up for rent again for the beginning of September and were supposed to be first on the list of apartments to be re-rented (this was a month and a half before we were to leave). They didn't actually re-rent the apartment until 3 days before our move out, and then the day we left they told us that the applicant had not been approved for the apartment, we were still responsible for the rent. We got notice at the end of August that someone else had applied for the apartment, but that we should go ahead and "send in a rent check for the month incase the new people didn't show up." Hell No!! Today is Sept 5, and we were just notified that the new tenants would not be moving in until Sept 10th, we were responsible for rent until then. That's 20 days rent that we weren't even living there, $300 pet deposit, professional carpet cleaning, plus whatever else they may have decided to tack on during inspection for good measure. If your planning on renting here until you die you might be ok, but if you want to move out ever, I would recommend a different location, the past month has been nothing but a hassle.
